What does it feel like to be attacked by a shadow priest?
I was thinking earlier about how mages/warlocks (destro specifically) burn you and it probably hurts a lot, but it made me wonder what being attacked by other classes would feel like
Most seem pretty easy to imagine, you know?
Warrior hits you with a big stick, a monk will kick you etc etc…. but Shadow priest I just don’t know.
What does Mind Flay feel like? Is it like a physical pain? Or like a psychological/emotional pain?
What does Mind Blast feel like? Or void torrent?
Is the void painful? Or cold? Maybe it’s just unimaginable despair and sadness with fear mixed in? To the point it breaks the mind
in the case of magic used by a shadow priest…I’d imagine like your brain was melting or about to explode in your skull. All their attacks go for the mind more than the physical body and the stuff they can throw at you could be pain that’s worse than one could imagine.
Gowther in the seven deadly sins is what I imagine it to be. His ultimate is to attack your mind and make you experience a traumatic past memory, but warped to make it even scarier. Maybe it was something you did bad and it makes you feel guilty… or makes you scared. The goal is to keep you trapped in your mind while he leaves and goes on to fight another day
It’s just a really bad headache, take an aspirin, a cup of tea and you’ll just walk it off
But actually, I’d imagine it’d be all sorts of fun neurological stuff from (as people have mentioned) psychological effects (I feel terrified, etc) to physical effects, since the brain controls a lot of stuff that keeps us healthy, surely some spells would mess that up to cause actual damage, or directly affect the brain (swelling for example)
Also I just have a hunch void themed stuff is just purple gravity, stuff like void bolt, shadow crash and other npc abilities aren’t really described as “haha head hurt” and more like compressing stuff
You ever stare into a cave, and a chill goes down your spine because you feel like something might be looking back out at you?
Ever swim out into a lake, or an ocean, and get the feeling that something could be right beneath you? And you would never even know until it grabbed you and pulled you under.
Ever gaze up into the sky and wonder at the vastness of the cosmos, and of the great and terrible things that could lie within it? Are those things aware of us? Do they even consider us? Are they coming for us?
It’s probably like having all of the horrible answers given to you, forcibly, with a spike, into your cranium. Like having someone rip the curtain of the universe back and forcing you to gaze in horror at things you weren’t meant to know.
I’m no longer allowed to post videos, but Im pretty sure being a victim of shadow magic would be a lot like being the guy in the Little Babies Ice Cream commercial.

Phantom pain. There is no physical harm whatsoever, but it harms your mind. Something like a severe migraine that doesnt come from anything wrong with your body so meds cant possibly work.
