Communication.
I want communication.
I need communication from those who make this game.
Players need communication from those who make this game.
Otherwise it’s going to keep being a tire fire and only get worse.
Especially for us poor, stanky druids - outside of Legion, there have been more allied races added to this game than new druid forms (outside of the new forms tied to that race).
Borrowed power is…fine, but BfA and Shadowlands feel like they are complex for the sake of complexity. Artifacts in Legion were just such an elegant and intuitive system that Blizzard really should just have kept going with them.
They are going to struggle to top it.
I’d add:
Fixing the now well known (and Blizzard admitted) massive PvE issues on Alliance. The only solution at this point is likely going to be cross-faction grouping and guilding.
More compelling, deep open world content. Suramar was just so good, even though it overstayed it’s welcome towards the end. I don’t think I’ve ever been as invested in the lore (although, honestly, 3 of the 4 Shadowlands leveling zones were also legitimately good story wise).
Less FOMO. A handful of time exclusive mounts and titles are fine, but meaningful customization options being tied to FOMO content not only promotes an unhealthy choice between RL responsibilities and losing out on stuff you really want ingame, and alienates new players.
This all said, I’m nowhere near as down on Shadowlands as others seem to be. Unlike BFA, which totally failed to ‘grip’ me, I’m having a lot of fun.
I can’t even talk to others if I’m questing in the world. I’m limited to the “zone” I’m in.
It’s beyond ridiculous that they can’t open up some worldwide chat channels so I can blabber on about nothing with the rest of the people in Stormwind–if I’m in the Grizzly Hills.
Ya know?
But–no. Instead of making communication more feasible in a MMO, they spend resources changing the artwork in ten year old instances.
The community wants xyz, but also the community will quit if they do xyz.
In other words, “the community” is largely a misnomer. We want a lot of different things, and often those things are diametrically opposed to what someone else wants.
I want more content to be intentionally soloable. I’m fine with content being intended for 10-man or 5-man parties, however I get more satisfaction out of something that I can run by myself, while rewarding gear on par with the group content.
I enjoyed Horrific Nightmares because they were something you could progressively improve at by playing the content, which directly contributed to your power elsewhere.
I enjoyed the mage tower because it was a tricky encounter that was built around understanding the mechanics of your spec, and rewarded you with something unique.
