I currently just have retail WOW installed. I was wondering what the pre-patch applies to, and what I need to install to play when the pre-patch is applied on April 30. Do I need to install the basic Classic WOW first? Is Classic WOTLK going away, or do I need to install that as well? And I assume there will be a new Cataclysm install as well? I am uncertain about what I actually need to install right now since I have not been playing WOW classic up to now. Thanks.
The current LK classic client.
Cataclysm prepatch won’t affect anything on the DF (retail) game.
There’s 4 “WoWs” now: Classic, Wrath, SoD, and DF.
The cata patch affects Wrath.
Theres only 3 wows. Retail, Era, and WotLK Classic.
Era has normal, SoD, and hardcore servers.
WotLK Classic is what OP needs to download to play Cata Classic
They’ll remove Wrath once Cata goes live.
It’d be more accurate to say that Cataclysm will replace Wrath.
True there because it’s not really a deletion.
Thanks for the clarification!
Right, that’s why I was eager to level a toon to run Wrathgate and Battle for Undercity, as I had no expectations that they were to survive into Cata. They were removed before (though I don’t recall if they were removed before any of the Cata patches or not).
I kind of wanted to do it again on an Ally toon, but just not motivated to level another DK 20 levels to get it done. Even with the 50% XP buff, its still a bit of a slog (unless someone has some suggestions).
