Whenever I see a rank 13 or 14, I think man, that guy must be a crybaby sissy. Thats just my personal opinion, but heres why…
Whenever Alliance caps one flag in WSG, all the rankers complain when I try to grab the flag. They want to throw the match so that they can maximize honor. I never experienced this in retail, in fact we always tried our best to turn it around, and the most satisfying victories were the ones where we were losing 2-0.
In AV, our Oceanic servers are able to cheese the boss in 4minutes, thanks to the back door exploit. Im against using these exploits but thats another topic. I enjoyed the 2 hour+ games at the beginning of classic, and one of the reasons I returned after quitting in Legion, was because I wanted to experience the legendary 2 day AV battles. I wanted that classic experience. But whenever I go on D, the Horde start to whine and complain that Im doing it wrong. They tell the raid not to go defensive, because it will force a turtle, and hinder their honor per hour.
Long story short, Classic PvP is full of sissies who want to lose on purpose. This is not the classic experience I envisioned.
The complaints are not simply, lets throw the match. These guys throw horrendous tantrums, threaten to rage quit and resort to reporting me AFK just because I want to play the game properly.
I imagine, in Vanilla, that rank 14 represented a dedicated and honorable warrior of your faction. Someone who fought for victory at all costs… although I wonder if that is a little delusional based on todays rankers.
What does r14 represent for you? What do you think when you see that title, High Warlord.

Think of a closet with yellow filled gatorade bottles and brown socks thrown about. R14 in a nutshell.

Time investment.
It’s not that bad on alliance really. 3-4 12 hour sessions per week and you’re done!
I know that’s actually a lot of play time but it’s nothing compared to og vanilla or current horde.
How many chicks you pick up with rank 14 dude…
jealous, LOL

Its worse for Horde on my servers. It fluctuates, but when I was looking at ranking on my hunter, you had to spend a minimum of 18 hours a day 6 days a week. That gave you a spare day if you didnt quite reach cap.
One streamer admitted to setting an alarm for 45min during his 6hr sleep period so that he could keep up, during the AV meta.
Its no wonder they always uptight and cranky…

The R14 push can hit 75+ hours a week. Some sore loser prolonging one WSG by 30 minutes means it’s now 75.5+ hours. There’s nothing sissy about not wanting to actually die IRL during the grind.
Pretty much this. I don’t hate them, because if I was unemployed and single, I would probably do the grind too. Nor do I admire them.
It’s pretty common on pservers that GM’s and HWL get hardstuck at 1600 when TBC Arenas release.
Maybe it’s because stomping pugs with a premade 8+hrs a day doesn’t make you a good player. I look at someone with R14 as someone who most likely botted, or could be spending that precious time on something more meaningful.

I think most people get hard stuck at 1600 when arenas release, because most people are bad. That’s not exactly exclusive to rankers in Classic.
Obviously the ranks in Classic aren’t a measurement of skill, so comparing it to a system in TBC that is a measurement of skill doesn’t make much sense.
If you’re looking for pvp that values competition and winning, make a twink. The 49 bracket is unbelievably fun all day, every day.

PvP titles are usually a measurement of skill and knowledge of other classes in a PvP environment. When HwL/GM isn’t neither of those things.
My point was to people who believe HWL/GM’s are PvP gods when it usually unfortunately ends up being the opposite.
Someone who doesnt enjoy, or isnt good at competitive PVP.
(most r14s do premades only, throw games, or just afk in bgs alot)
