What does ms > os +2 mean?

I know it means main spec roles are priority but what does the +2 mean? You can only get up to two items?

If you win an item youre at +2 whereas someone who hasnt won yet is at a 0. Each time you win something you get a +2.

If youre at 0 and someone who is at +2 rolls against you you will win the item for being at 0

Does the counter ever reset? Or does it keep adding +2 for each win?

It adds up each time you win during that lockout. The next week if you raid with the same group youll be back to 0 along with everyone else

It doesn’t reset, but you cannot win loot until everyone else competing against you is also +2. It is the worst loot system imaginable and guarantees people will ghost the raid after they get a piece.

I won Malice in a ms/os +1 on a losing role to a DK who won the sigil earlier and he immediately rage quit for example. There isn’t much incentive to hang around once you realize you likely won’t be winning anymore loot. If progress slows at all people start having internet issues real quick.

This explanation makes no sense, given it would mean MS>OS with a +1 is no different than the +2. Why would you count by two instead of just one?

You should always get a +1 whenever you win. Under +2, you don’t lose priority until after your second item (which for our drunken fox dk here, would help encourage people to stick around after their first win).

Why would it be +2 and not just +1? Surely there is some distinction.

Haha I was typing my comment when I read yours.

I assumed it would be MS>OS and 2 soft reserves, but I guess I am wrong.

The +2 kinda threw me off too, only thing I can think of is that OS is a +1 or like Kirsia said the first win is free. People are coming up with their own weird versions of systems these days. The other day I saw a SR +6 being advertised.
