Forgive me, I am new to the forums.
If an OP deleted their post, what does it look like to those trying to view their replies? I am receiving a Page Not Found error and I am assuming OP removed their post?
That usually means a mod pruned the thread.
If it’s just a post you’ll usually see the person that’s being replied to but no original post.

Does that mean removing users from being able to post or removing the thread entirely for all?
There you go, a working example of what it looks like.
Depends. Sometimes individual posts are trimmed and you can see replies, just not the original post(er).
For example you can see that I’m replying to you on the right of my post here, but if you were to delete your post then it wouldn’t direct up to it as it’d be hidden.

I believe only Mods can lock a thread, so nobody else can post.
If you’re getting Page Not Found a mod just outright deleted it.

OP didn’t delete their thread, the forum mods did. If the thread is locked you can still view your posts. If it’s deleted, it’s as if none of it existed.

I used to get 404 messages now it sends me to a blank default screen
Somewhere out there is a massive log of closed threads. Probably half of all threads ever made.
I’d rather them be locked and exist as read only, but no more.
They can do that. Some threads that go off the rails and need to end - but still have good feedback in parts - only get locked and hidden. You can’t find or view them, but the Community Managers can still sort through the good parts of them.
Other threads just get nuked because they are a mess - esp if there are other threads on the same topic that are constructive. They prefer feedback in one thread vs multiples.
I did not see the thread in question though so don’t know what happened to it.

The post you are looking for I believe was removed by a mod.
Though usually they just hide it. The one you were in previously I think they totally deleted.

The error 404 is still there. It just redirects you, I think. If I look at my phone’s notifications, they show error 404 which is the status code for Not Found.

Yeah it did get a little messy in that one. I can see why a mod would have removed it. Thanks for the reply.

If that thread constitutes as messy (It probably did), then half of the active threads around here should be closed.
(As they usually are lol.)
I’m just sad to to see honest threads descend into chaos halfway. Like on page 50 of 100 suddenly everything goes sideways
Maybe make only half the thread visible. Like how we have the hidden feature but something more hidden/locked for the bad half
