Saw this in a fury warrior on an Icy Veins guide where the macro says !Heroic Leap
Regular keybind just has the green circle showing. The spam macro has the green circle and still allows you to spam the ability. I don’t understand the purpose of this when you can instead just do the @cursor macro to leap automatically.
Having the green circle allows you to be more precise / see exactly where it is you’re going to land. This is especially useful when you’re trying to leap up / down something or leap onto something specific. It’s also useful for other abilities like priest’s mass dispel.
A lot of players spam their buttons to avoid losing time between gcds, the ! makes sure people don’t cancel their leap setup before they clock where they want to go by pressing the leap keybind again.
Hmm I’m not seeing a difference between using the !Heroic leap macro and standard leap keybind. The green circle is on the ground regardless of moving or taking damage. They both also turn off when I right click to move somewhere.
Using a spam macro that has a ! lets you continuously spam the macro without deselecting the ability if it has a targeting circle.
So if you just use a heroic leap keybind, if you press it twice, it will un-select heroic leap. Whereas with the spam one, it will keep heroic leap pressed.
It’s common to use it for Eagle Eye/Far Sight as well, cause with a !, it won’t cancel the existing Eagle Eye/Far Sight, whereas if you just use it regularly, a second press cancels the initial cast.
Say leap is bound to C
If you press C twice with the standard ability it’ll show the targeting circle then it’ll deselect the spell and remove the circle.
If you press the ! Bind twice it won’t deselect the spell, allowing for accidental double presses without hindering your ability to use your abilities.
the “!” is spam protection
Like a druid might spam Beam Form for defense. But if they use the macro /cast Bear Form they would go into Bear Form, then back into Human form.
/use !Bear Form also protects against that negative interaction.
So I pressed the heroic leap keybind twice and it didn’t unselect it compared to the ! macro. The standard keybind green circle legit remains on the ground. I have both the macro and the keybind next to one another as we speak, testing
Edit: just read on google that spam macros are now useless for ground abilities like leap after some patch a while back or something?
