What does change look like?

They went viral in 2014, after a comedian had a Cosby rant in one of his performances. But he was not making any accusations, just amplifying ones that already existed. Specifically, Hannibal Buress told his audience to go google “Bill Cosby rape”.

You can read more here: http^s://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Cosby_sexual_assault_cases#1965%E2%80%931996_allegations

It seems VERY strange to knowingly theme a sex party after Bill Cosby unless someone in that chat had heard something and found the rumors funny.

Also this is fun I seem to have lost link posting privileges in the last three days.

The allegations were public knowledge prior to that as far back as 2006 when it was a topic of discussion on Howard Stern’s radio show. It just didn’t truly go overwhelmingly viral until 2014 and turn him from a vaguely controversial figure into a toxic one.

Thanks for correcting me on that!

Ghostcrawler is kind of digging himself into a hole on twitter.

“Dave was talking about his wife and a friend!”

…I’m not about the kink shame in the Year of Our Lord 2021, but dude.

Dunno if anyone went digging for it, I’ve only heard about it second hand but I guess another senior developer went off on Twitter about how players are “Part of the problem” because some people were sarcastically asking when 9.2 was coming out?

I mean, considering the stress levels of everyone at the company right now, even ‘if’ players were saying it sarcastically, it’s easy to be interpreted as anything but.

Has there been any comment from Ion during this whole thing? I have not heard anything mention him good or bad.

I was wondering that myself. Has there been anything new today? seems like every day this gets a little worse.

I saw on the WoW subreddit Blizz has brought in a world renowned law firm. One that APPARENTLY Amazon has been using for union busting. Obviously do more research with this information but take it as you will.

Edit: firm name is Wilmerhale

Ion’s a lawyer. He knows better. He probably won’t comment.

I’d kinda figured as much, but just wondered.

I wish Totalbiscuit was still with us, he’d be having a field day tearing Blizzard apart over this.

(for reference, Totalbiscuit is the gaming-british version of George Carlin who was one of the biggest pro consumer voices of our age before he passed away)

And again I say - anyone who looked to Bobby Kotick as the voice of reason and inevitable, positive change with his statement was really just looking for the bare minimum required to make themselves feel better.

Eh.

For reference here, I was a fan of his. Loved his content, even though I disagreed with him on plenty.

But TB had dealings with Blizzard on a business level. Had a SC2 pro team, even voiced a pack for that game.

He knew. There’s no way he didnt, being as involved with the company as he was. And if you want more insight on that, dont forget whose side he was initially championing when GamerGate kicked off.

it’s also Ion’s old firm.

It is! But apparently he left when he was only an associate, so it’s unlikely he had any serious pull. I don’t know what exactly he did so I don’t want to say its negligible, but I’m not sure if he would have any influence with the position he was in. I’d be more worried if he was senior staff or management.

yeah, it’s just one of those things that makes you go Hmm.
