I feel like with the next expansion, they should try defining what made classic wow versions, classic wow versions. Because it is not just nostalgia that is selling classic wow, or classic burning crusade, or the classic wrath of the lich king when it comes along. It was the way the game played and felt to play, and the features that those expansions had. They had just enough right. So many changes have been made to retail in recent years, all stemming from cataclysm going forward. I feel if they could somehow incorporate what made the classic versions so popular, retail wow would rise in popularity again.
Wow in general suffers from old age, and a multitude of changes people just do not care for. So for those players who do not care how old the game is, incorporating some of the old tropes of the classic versions would be a huge step forward. A harder leveling curve for example. Nothing really steps out and owns me anymore when i level up in retail. There was no phasing back then either. If anyone remembers the pristine wow discussion before classic wow really took off, i still feel this has merits for retail wow nowadays.
I feel it would be cool to add the classic wow overworld for 1-60, with the original barrens and shadowfang keep with the worgens, and deadmines with edwin vancleeef and mr smite, to be added back in to retail wowâs next expansion for chromie time. It is an option that is sorely lacking in retail atm for some reason.
I also would love to see a new class. I always enjoyed playing each new class and leveling them upon the release of a new expansion. So it is about time for another class.
Idk. I would love to have a version of retail wow that functioned pretty similar to wrath of the lich king. Like whatever the next expansion is, have it play and feel exactly how wrath of the lich king did to play. I remember each class being pretty awesome to play back then. The leveling was fluent. Still relatively challenging as well.
