What do you think it’ll take to get people (that have quit) to return to Retail? Just curious as to people’s thoughts. I have a love for the story of retail, just… I know it’s fundamentally flawed in many ways
Make it fun for more than small burst. In no game designer i just know when im having fun or not
A new xpac, people will go back to level if they say they wont they are lying.
They won’t return to retail unless wow 2 comes out. Retail is too messy. 99% of retail is obsolete.
I want to fly without having to grind for a year.
Flying is my absolute favorite part of WoW. I want to play the content I like, not grind out zones.
Skipped Legion, skipped BfA, I’ll skip whatever is next, too.
There’s no point to leveling my retail toons- I loathe the playstyle of affliction as it is in retail. The ability prune was way overboard. Class Fantasy is empty. Raiding is tedious to me. LEarn the current rote steps, repeat endlessly, just faster. Yawn.
I’ve no interest in grinding rng to end up with gear that will lead to grinding rng, for gear. I don’t want my gear to get cool abilities on proc - I want my character to get teh new abilities, and to be able to use them on command.
And teh lore, while always weak, is utter crap at this point.
Absolutely have to delete titan forging
Not so. I don’t have any interest in retail or any upcoming expansion. It doesn’t appeal to me. Meanwhile I love Classic and have put more time into Classic than I have retail in a very, very long time.
It isn’t just because many find BFA to be a bad expansion either. Retail and Classic are very different. One is fun for me and the other isn’t. Why would I play what I don’t enjoy?
I understand there are a lot who play both and I think that’s great. I also understand that for some, they are enjoying Classic but enjoy going to retail to play new content patches and will play when the next expansion releases. But that sure doesn’t equal everyone. I personally haven’t logged into retail since Classic launched. The most I did was watch the latest cinematic on the launcher.
I know some people who play both and know quite a few who play Classic primarily and have zero interest in retail. Why is it so hard for some people to understand that some people just like different things?
9.0 should get people back to retail. Remember, even BfA and WoD had good numbers at launch.
IF ONLY class design didn’t completely suck. Classes all feel the same and not fun at all. I would play BFA even if it was bad as long as it had good class design. I just don’t like how it feels.
I can’t put my finger on it… like… why do I hate it? I don’t know. I leveled EVERY class to 120 and put my time into every class. There is some that are kinda fun like Disc priests but that’s all I enjoy… barely.
my biggest problem with retail or most expansions for awhile is the total disconnect between “currrent content” and everything previous to the current
my favorite time in wow was the pre wrath event where the zombies invaded our cities and it affected both level 1 and max levels alike
low levels could cast dispels, remove diseases, and help out as peeps tried to turn the entire world into zombies
my other favorite time was pre legion with the invasions
level 1’s would show up and if they survived would be level 10 by the end- lulz
but my low level druid could throw out a tranq and because of the weird scaling could contribute
i wanted more relevancy in the old zones
i did not like all of the cross server cross realm junk
this just made the world less and less relevant as players could play the entire game from a capitol city
this is what i always missed
i missed relevancy of professions from expac to ecpac
i dont know how you this with retail
i do miss bg’s in classic
i miss getting pvp gear- especially the lowbie ab boots with the running speed increase
The world being completely destroyed, all the characters being killed off, all of our characters being killed off for good, and reboot. Anything to erase the years of sh*t writing, Disneyfied comic-relief, purely instance focused, lack of RPG elements, and many many more things that is retail. Not even worth it at this point with everything else in the making. Retail WoW will never be an MMO for RPG seekers.
Well, except that those numbers didn’t include me, or people like me - people who stopped playing a couple of expacs ago, because the game went in a direction we didn’t care for.
Tbh - I don’t play other Blizz games, none of them. I don’t find them fun. The story is complete crap - Lore has never been why I played WoW, because it’s awful, a hodgepodge of as many gamer tropes as can be stuffed in.
So - if the lore strikes me as half-assed fanfic, the class fantasy concept a nightmare, character progression replaced with gear progression, and the weighting of raids as the be all and end all of the game’s goal for players has alienated me…
What do YOU think it would take to get me back? I mean, you have as good a chance as guessing right as the dev’s do.
I will not return to retail for a new expansion. The last expansion I even purchased was WOD. I quit around Cata and didn’t even return for Pandaria. Someone convinced me (somehow) to try WOD. I think it was the pet battles that convinced me to come back actually and that was like a week of entertainment.
Make things matter, I logged into my retail toon after a year of not playing it and my bag was absolutely filled to the brim with pointless junk, professions are useless and pointless, everyone is running around glowing like the sun (seriously why does every single set have to have crazy effect and not more cool design without the neon lights?). All this stuff is just noise that I don’t like
It would take enough changes that I imagine it would piss off the current playerbase quite a bit.
You’d have to bring back a lot of the RPG feel, and people flipped out over the removal of a couple of portals a while ago.
and get rid of the stupid Diablo-esque titanforge system where you’re just farming the same crap over and over again in the hopes that it gets an ever so slight upgrade.
Herd there gonna make a 120 level boost next xpac, gives me no incentive to level when i will be able to boost every year. Pointless also will auto complete all previous quests, ridiculous
Cancel current retail, build upon Classic for new content, and make Classic the new retail. Aside from that, there is no way to capture the magic of what made World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft. They have a chance to start over and do things right, but we know they won’t.
Retail is that way —>
theyd have to completely remove x server, x realm, instant dungeon finder, lolforging, multiple raid tiers to get me to even consider it.
i dont feel at home in retail and havent for a very long time.
