Ha, I’m sorry… I meant that rhetorically, not directly aimed at you… but I am sorry that you’re not enjoying it. I’m in the opposite camp, I came back and my friends are all gone from game, but I DO love the game and the world. I’ve retired from playing competitively because of life, which does help my attitude.
I think they should have previous pre-patches on Chromie. the last three pre patch scenarios were a blast. Yes i know Emerald Dream has rares , but i really got a gas flying around icecrown killing bosses as a group. I am not sure what you would even call them, Timewalking zones perhaps?
I only interacted with the tables ingame while setting them up. Otherwise I used the companion app. I STILL run the garrison and sanctum tables on 10 toons, nearly all by phone during work breaks/travel, spend less than an hour a week setting up auctions and average 10k a day. It’s not WoD or Legion money but it’s better than I did during BfA from everything combined.
On topic I miss:
Visions
WF/TF
Artifact weapons
Real flying at max level
Hunter pet specs
MoP demo locks
My ranged silence.
I miss having 3 heroic leaps on my warrior like I had in SL. It was freaking hilarious in pvp.
Pre-Dragonflight professions for me.
Yeah, I’m not even a min/maxer but I enjoyed reforging. Even if I didn’t really know 100% what I was doing it still felt like I was making my gear my own.
I miss hunter pet talent trees and being able to choose your pet’s spec. It was nice to be able to pick pets based on looks alone.
I thought that was fun too and miss it. Now it’s like what even is a dungeon? Just a race?
Honestly, I kinda do too. I like the idea of the new system more, but it’s just too much. Every time I unshelf an old alt or they rework the talents on one of my mains I have to spend like a half hour+ trying to figure out what to do with them now. Plus, there’s so many points that most nodes feel almost pointless. Fewer talents with a bigger impact might actually be better, like just bring the Classic talent trees back or something more like them?
This was certainly a feeling that’s muted with current WoW, but the problem was that feeling is a limited time thing. Sure it’s a adventure the first couple times, then it’s a slog. And it applies to everything; leveling, travel, instances, etc. I’ll gladly forgo some of the “adventure” to not suffer the tedium. I have alts to give me variety.
Being able to walk from one end of Darkshore to the other on a lowbie might not have that same sense of wonder, but it would definitely be less of a slog than the current Cata terrain changes made it into.
They could just bring back no flying at the start of expansions but I’m not really for that because they always made the no flying last too long. I always thought what they could have done was do no flying per zone and then unlock flying per zone as the player completed the zone. So it would only be no flying for days not months. But, eh, whatevs.
Arcane Reforging.
Gearing up just on RNG without any way to reallocate stats just isn’t fun.
Any zone that is intended to be done without flight must be designed to be entirely accessible on foot. In Pathfinder expansions, all zones had to be doable not only on foot, but also they needed to be flight ready. Basically, they paid a lot extra to make that design a thing. It was intended to drag out the first half of an expansion with pointless travel while killing valueless trash mobs that littered the terrain and paths.
True, but even DF zones are made so just about everything can be reached on foot too. It’s really not until Thaldraszus that things get real nuts. I kinda think DF started off with no flying in mind but access to flying by the time of reaching Thaldraszus but somewhere along the way they just decided to go flying day one. Which is cool. I’m not against it.
Oh, also, I miss my pet.
Now that I think about it , I have a tip for Classic players and a downer for me. I wont give the secret away completely , but there is a rare black wolf in classic in Kalimdor by a dungeon exit that has + 50 resistance to 3 different spell damages ( fire , frost and i guess shadow) that i trained and nobody in AV could kill the darn thing , which is what I think lead to "Normalizing " pets ( its usually my fault if you look hard enough), so I really miss rare pets with battle stats,
( and I remember when Broken tooth and King bangalash had wicked bites as well and there was a line to tame them)
Symbiosis.
I also loved Ashran, I’d be in there all the time.
