What DO you lose in a realm transfer?

A friend plays on a different server so I’m just worried about what I will lose if I transfer. Will I lose ANYTHING? Especially worried about achievements and rep also.

No you don’t loose any of this but theres a limit of gold you can have when transfering.

I have never lost anything.

quests you already did are again available.

that’s the only loss.

You lose nothing. Besides that server’s guild if in one anyway.

Depending on what you do and the server groupings you will still even see the same server people. Now they’d have -server_name is all.

I switched from oceanic to full US (many transfers done when on sale) and I still see the same OCE crowd. Dungeon finder pairs em up with the US as does pvp.

ingame you shouldnt lose anything.

but a realm transfer will mess up (wipe) your forum rep if thats a thing that concerns you.

You can lose your name if you don’t scout ahead to make sure it’s available.

You lose your progress with the Argent Tournament. That’s the only thing I’ve found to happen.

The friends you made along the way…

You sacrifice everything and have to start from lowbie grey gear, level 1 and no access to heirlooms or mounts you’ve collected. Pets restart at level 1 also.

Don’t listen to all the people saying you lose stuff. You MIGHT lose progress on quests you are currently working on, but that only applies to certain quests, most things will be ok. Faction change is a different story, you will have to start over on any faction specific questlines.

There is a limited amount of gold you can transfer with, I don’t remember the limit because it’s been raised so many times.

If you transfer and change factions you will lose all your earn rep and have to start over to gain rep on opposite faction. BUT if you return to your original faction you will receive all your old rep. Back. I think they only real issue with faction to faction is limited gold transfer.

CASH is what you will lose.

Only certain reps tied to Wrath, iirc.

I faction changed a toon in BFA and was given equivalent rep with the corresponding factions. Did it to unlock the allied races.

Still had to redo the quests.

Your identity, your friends, your guild, some achievements.
You will forever be a traitor to your original server.

Changing server is like changing sex.

I’ve already changed my sex actually. lol. She was to damn skinny. Friends? Have none except 2 on the server I’ll be going too. No guild either at least not til I get to my friends guild.

I forgot to mention it will be going from my wow2 account to my wow1 account. Does that change anyones reply?

Still on Americas so should be the same, but you might want to put a ticket in and ask Blizz directly.

When I did a transfer (quite some time ago) I was limited to bring 50K gold with me and that hurt as I had quite a bit more than that. So as others mentioned, your gold will be lost if you have more than whatever the current limit is.

P.S. Some will tell you to buy an expensive BoP item from the AH to transfer the value of your gold and resell it when you get to your new serer, but AH markets can vary wildly between servers so if you try this, check with your friend about current pricing for your big-ticket transfer item.

Money. You lose money

Sometimes if you’re in the middle of a faction-specific version of a quest chain, you lose that.

Some of the things you lose are…

Your account-wide achievements won’t transfer. Only achievements that are character-specific may transfer

Your account-wide unlocks will not transfer over to the new account. For example, if you have unlocked Battle for Azeroth Essences or Shadowlands legendary power recipes on your main account, you will need to unlock them on your new account

Pathfinder achievement:
If the transferred character has completed the Pathfinder achievement, the character will retain Pathfinder abilities and flight skill, but will not unlock Pathfinder for other characters in the new Blizzard account
If the transferred character hasn’t completed the Pathfinder achievement yet, but has progressed through the achievement, this partial progress will not transfer, and cannot be repeated on this character on the new Blizzard account
Pathfinder progress earned on other characters in the source Blizzard account will not transfer

Your items in the Collections tab won’t transfer. Only mounts and pets earned by this character as a reward for a character-specific achievement may transfer

Your Honor level will not transfer

Your Arena Rating may change and affect end-of-season PvP rewards. At the end of a PvP season, we recommend that you transfer only after receiving the rewards
