What do you find fun in WoW nowdays?

Title says it all, always when people is complaining they question what do you want for fun, now i want to know what do you actually find fun

Leveling knew characters. Doing just enough solo content in endgame to just stay close to current (no raids, Mythic+ or PvP)

My latest project was going to a brand new server and starting 2 new characters with my son. We made the 4 magic brothers from his favorite childhood cartoon.

I also made another Retail character to match my main classic Horde character.

Still need to finish the pre-DK version of this guy in Classic

Pinnacle of hotkey MMO gameplay, art design and zones. Pretty much all the instanced content in the game is fun sometimes but depends on the players. Battlegrounds can be very satisfying, but the more you try to grind honor the more suddenly they become tedious. Dungeons where you actually have to put effort in and that chemistry of teamwork happens is great, but pushing keys with a bunch of dopes is tedious. There has always been a great game underneath the surface of WoW, but it can be lost easily when you are focused on earning rewards and being the strongest.

The people.

This is the only video game I’ve ever really played for any length of time (like, more than a few hours) and what makes the difference for me is the community, and the social interactions I have in game.

Yeah, the content is fun too (archaeology, pet battles, professions, hunting lore objects for achievements) but that gives a framework for social interaction on the game that will keep me coming back time and time again.

 you guys!

I usually have goals that I’m trying to accomplish.

There’s the standard timing dungeons/aotc/pvp mounts that I like to try and do as of these past couple of seasons. There’s a bit of a relief in getting them over with, for me.

Then, I balance it with more laid back content purely for aesthetics. Anything from xmog runs, hunting a mount. Right now, I’m trying to come up with the perfect blood themed DH set. Trying to get Midnight from Karazhan, mix n match armor with some of the new pieces from Castle Nathria, red warglaives from RBGs.

Then, I’ll probably move on to my next goal. I couldn’t tell you what it is yet! I’m generally inspired when I see next patch sets.

Going to a random server and starting a new character, even if it’s the same class as my main, is always fun when I find myself bored.

Last time I enjoyed retail, I brought a new blood elf warlock through the Ghostlands using Chromie time Cataclysm. That was a lot of fun til 50.

I contemplated doing a fresh start account, but IDK. I got into classic anticipating TBC and I’m having a blast here, because it’s also a fresh start.

This is such a great game, but I’ve been playing so long that I’ve run out of older stuff to get that I want, and the newer stuff doesn’t appeal to me yet.

So, leveling in classic is my jam right now. I have the RPG I remember. I just wish it came with some more modern perks like the collections systems and updated graphics, but as it sits, it’s still a fun time.

Weeklies, WQ, Covenant quests, and M+.

Raiding has been an antiquated model of gameplay that i don’t find overly relevant. And PvP has always been the redheaded stepchild of WoW, given that WoW is a PvE game.

I do a few world quests everyday and run a few layers of Torghast every week. In fact I’m doing Soulforges right now, taking a little break at the beginning of floor 2.

Mostly, I have been spending a lot of time in the old world, working on achievements and reputations, searching for rare pets, getting items for transmog sets from old dungeons and raids. It’s been fun and enjoyable going back to older content.

Okay, back to Torghast…

Mythic plus, transmog runs.

The only thing i have ever found enjoyable in WoW.

#1 the gear grind
#2 so that i can hangout in duelotar all day, completely optimized.

I play WoW becoz I want to have fun. Anything challenging stuff to me is fun.

  1. Heroic 5-man of the past was once hard and challenging and therefore, it’s fun. But once you get Raid gear, the dungeon becomes easy. It became less fun. We started facerolling these dungeons becoz of overgearing. Years of doing those became old. Now, it’s boring.

Then Mythic+ is introduced. It has key levels… harder and harder. Challenges are endless. Even if you are Raid geared, the dungeon at higher keys still poses a threat. And that’s fun. It’s loots are okay becoz it provides our toon with gear progression allowing us to do harder dungeon keys.

  1. Torghast used to be hard and challenging. It was fun. Then Blizz nerfed it. Now, it’s like a joke. I used to die before, now I dont. From time to time, we have to lose. If the game always allows us to win, that’s boring. We lose the feeling of the true joy from victory. Becoz the current victory is now a joke. Remember, we hate Warfront and Island Expedition? Becoz we always win in there. And that’s boring.

  2. Maw used to be fun.

  • We want to go faster, we steal a mount.
  • There are locations full of elites. Becoz of the challenges, we are forced to be creative like stealing the Assassination Soul Cloak.
  • Eye of the Jailer adds more fun or challenge to the game. We are not only looking at the fights on mobs but also other mechanics being thrown at us.
  • On 9.1, Maw would become a joke. No more stealing of mount, no need to steal assassination cloak and no more added challenges from Eye of the Jailer. Just plain FACEROLLING OF MOBS. Maybe, Maw has to be nerfed becoz everyone is moving to Korthia, anyway. Gonna miss those fun moments.

Having played since November 04, I have loved this game from the beginning. We adopted our son in 2010 (at age 2) I immersed him in all the nerdness that enveloped my life: Star Wars, Marvel, wrestling and WoW.

He used to sit on my lap and loved to fly around on my Netherwing Drakes. Last year we got him his first laptop and I immediately set up an account for him. I had wanted to play with I’m for SO long.

So now we play together when game time comes around. I have been having a blast taking him through all the zones and lore. Playing with him has really energized my game sessions.

Took this, my first original character into BFA today, and enjoyed the fresh air, the views, and great music. She quit and retired for awhile mid-legion, but gonna try and get some achievements and such done.

Read the forums. Level alts to 20ish. Play an hour on a max toon get burned out. Make a classic toon. Get him to level 10 then quit. Watch 5 minutes of streamer. Watch 2 minutes of AWC. Go back to reading forums.

Just don’t have the time to play consistently. I live vicariously through others

I used to like WoW because of all the kinds of content available.

But because of the restrictions with conduits and covenants, I’ve given up all but raiding. But even that is waning at this point. Wow was about the full package for me. While raiding is great, it sucks to raid log instead of being able to make meaningful choices throughout the week.
