This is a serious question. Every time I come to GD, it’s more of the same. People complaining about a lack of “content”. Complaints about “time gating”. Complaints about “Pathfinder grind”.
Since you seem to know exactly what will “fix” the game, here’s your chance to tell us.
Tell us all how during the game’s highest peak, people were ok with dailies for rep to get epics and raid-worthy enchants. (time gating)
Tell us how during the game’s highest peak, people were ok with doing the same heroics over and over and over to get raid-ready. (grind)
Tell us how people were ok with the raids we had, the quests (many being non-linear and you had to search for more) to level from 1 to 70 or 80 and on multiple alts (content)
Tell us all how “Vanilla”- the grind of questing, leveling weapon skills and professions just to do the few dungeons and raids available is going to be the content that “fixes” everything.
Give a detailed explanation on what is wrong. Don’t just say “omg no content, i play 2 hours, i done, need more”.
Tell Blizzard what will “fix” the game since questing just like the old days, dungeons, raids and rep are no longer “content” to you…
People did that during alpha. And again in beta.
Explaining what was wrong and making suggestions for improvement didn’t seem to stick.
Which Alpha? Which Beta? Because they’ve been saying this since Warlords of Draenor…
It’s best not to mind them. They’re neckbeards who just want to complain.
TL;DR I expect snakes not to have toes. Also fix the game.
This expansion’s alpha and this expansion’s beta. I thought that was implied.
Every time I come to General Discussion I expect it to be, well, General Discussion.
Complaining, drama, trolls, and at other times, fun little games people make, transmog stuff, and more. I see stuff I don’t care for, and other times topics I like to partake in or just to give my opinion. There will never be a day where there is no one complaining about something regardless of a change because while some or maybe even many might like something, you can be sure there will be those of the opposite opinion.
With that said, when one decides to come to General Discussion, expect all kinds of stuff going on from one topic to another.
When I come to the General Discussion Forum I expect…
Wait for it…
discussion of a general nature!!! Bompbompbommmmm
DOH!
I’m sorry I still find fun in this game and you do not. So instead of giving a constructive, thought-out reply to the issue, you instead stoop to childish aggression. /clap
P.S. Guess what Timeless Isle was… A DAILY GRIND FOR REP! Congratulations, you just played yourself.
Content has been fine; there hasn’t been a serious drought for 2 expansions now, and even before then, droughts only happened at the end of expansions. I don’t think I ever had a problem with content and, if I did, I was clearly mistaken.
The issues I have is that, overall, the game doesn’t feel like an RPG at all anymore. I feel so railroaded into specifics everywhere, be it endgame or outdoor content, that there is so very little in the way of player agency. There isn’t much in the way of player-driven gameplay or choice.
One example that sticks out in this patch particularly is a rare in the water near mechagon; you cannot use water-walking abilities near it. They just instantly get removed even if you aren’t taking damage. Why? Presumably because they wanted players to do it in the water. I hate that; I really really hate things like that, as they are a symptom of the tight leash put on our characters.
Let players be creative; let them do weird things, and if they find some nifty exploit, so long as it doesn’t utterly break the game, then who cares? Give them agency to make the game feel like an actual world of warcraft. You can do crazy things, both awesome and stupid, in the real world, so why not in the fantasy world? Let us reap reward and consequence alike from our own decisions.
Enough restricting things to only outdoors in X continent, enough railroading classes into pre-defined, uncustomizable specs. If they want to play a badly optimized spec or use their class abilities to do things no other class can, freaking let them! That’s what made the game fun: the fact that you could do these things once upon a time, that the things you made with professions were awesome everywhere, that you could try out these wacky niche meme-builds that may or may not even work.
As for content, there is no shortage of it, but there is something to be said about the impact of it. There’s so many mobs out in the world that serve no purpose but to slow you down. There’s no reason to fight them, as they’re not part of a quest, they don’t drop anything worth the bag space, and there really aren’t any decent greens, blues, or purples that are worthwhile from them. Economy is so bloated that the grays are pointless, and anything else easily outdone by a couple quick dungeon trips.
Part of what made TI successful was the currency. Everything, everywhere, dropped coins that were used to buy anything that could organically drop on the isle(except vanity items.) Everything felt worthwhile to kill, in that sense. I’m not saying to just copy/paste that, but to make all these otherwise worthless “scenery” mobs feel less like annoying daze-machines would be appreciated.
THANK YOU!
A constructive, serious, thought-out reply. Thank you for not being the typical droolface player complaining without context.
People have been sharing their thoughts about current state WoW for awhile now, I'm not sure if your not reading the forums or if you just came back to WoW but many players did give a detailed explanation and suggestions on what could be fixed and this was before BFA was released....
I will say that after playing 8.2 its just a patch where you can grind rep and run around killing mobs. that's it. As of right now. "Was it like this back then?" I don't recall having to grind so much like back in the earlier expansions or if so it wasn't as time gated we also had other things to do besides this. I told my bf idk if Blizzard is becoming dull in their work but this isn't looking too good its a repeat of what we were doing already..... The content isn't fine or else we wouldn't have lost so many players with this expansion. In addition there are those who re-subbed only to shortly unsub after realizing what this patch has to offer. I would honestly be worried if blizzard really expects a good chunk of the player base to continue doing the same thing over and over. Again its literally a repeat of what we had before this patch dropped. The only thing they added was more puzzles.
Oh a Blizzard employee such loyal defending I must say.
i expect the spanish inquisition
Rep grinds are a slog. I don’t mind a reputation I can grind out at my own leisure but what we have now is basically play by our way for a little bit every day. I miss when you could either just kill mobs or farm them in a dungeon. That work for you?
Dude do a search of the forums and actually read the feedback. I promise you 95% of its been ignored by the lawyer. NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is going to get better with him at the helm.
I’m enjoying myself in game, but these are some very good points. Part of the reason so many are looking forward to classic is for the RPG aspects that were removed and everything felt like it had a purpose.
One thing I’d really like to see in the next expansion is a zone that’s more wide open and less a maze. Zandalaar was one thing but Najtatar is too mazy for my tastes.
I hope you realize that many players gave a bunch of feedback during the alpha and beta. You want to know what happened to those forum posts? Blizzard deleted them from existence. Now we have you here indicating that people are not giving proper feedback. Gee I wonder why you didnt know that all proper feedback was deleted by Blizzard which then lead to your post here.
People in GD “expect” a perfect fantasy game that only exists in their mind, not in the real world. The compare the latest WoW to that fantasy perfection (a different ruleset for each of them, of course) and it is “awful” by comparison.
So even if WoW is better than every other MMO, it is “bad” in GD.
Vanilla? It’s the “honeymoon” effect. Your first few months of an MMO, a job or a marriage is “better” than 10 years later. Always.
Of course! Because players disagreed. If all the players said the same thing, Blizzard would listen. We’ve seen that happen hundreds of times.
You are complaining they don’t obey YOUR feedback. They couldn’t, since other players disagreed with you.
