What do the factions fight for?

Are The Alliance and Horde even fighting for philosophical differences or is it just one huge race war with no depth at all? Red guy bad?

Nothing at all as evidenced by the fact only 1 of the 4 raids this expac has been faction motivated. And its a faction war expac.

It’s more racism. Most fantasy game mortal conflicts boil down to racism. Just depends on which flavor of racism.

How can they say homophobia is non canon when racism runs rampant. Its pretty funny

That was my question, and I said it in that thread too, I’ll say it here. I dislike the idea of a developer waving his hand and suddenly a way of thinking (in any direction) is now not an actual way of thinking. That’d be like night elves tomorrow no longer canonically liking the color black.

The Alliance fights for its people and the Horde fights for its right to be rude to Alliance people. Always has been. Simple as.

It’s more a series of wars based on retribution.

  • Orcs thought that the Draenei were an imminent threat so they waged war.
  • Slurped the green drank and went to Azeroth to fight the Alliance.
  • Alliance get revenge and defeat them in the second war.
  • Worked together to take out the bigger threat in the third war
  • NElves wanted retribution for Cenarius.
  • Orcs wanted retribution for the warriors lost at their first meeting
  • Humans wanted retribution for the sacking of SW
  • Orcs wanted retribution for their horrid treatment in the prison camps
  • Dwarves wanted retribution for the siege of Ironforge
  • Tauren wanted retribution for their clan (Stronespire) being genocided by the Explorer’s league
  • Goblins want retribution for the unwarranted attack on their cartel
  • Worgen want retribution for the unwarranted attack on their city
  • Forsaken want retribution for being forsaken.
  • Blood Elves want retribution for Dalaran, and the sabotage of the arcane sanctums in the Ghostlands
  • Gnomes want retribution for their High Tinkerer
  • Draenei want all to serve the light, and are pretty chill dudes until they overdose on light.

It isn’t a race war it is the philosophy of “if he hits you hit him back” being played out on a global scale.
