I’ve played all the other healers up to a KSM level, except for MW monk. I was wondering what our strengths are and what we bring to an M+ group. For example, Hpal and Resto Shaman bring really good damage. But what does Mistweaver bring? Why would someone want a MW over another healer?
I’m very low iLVL and have yet to really get into M+ yet, so I can’t tell for myself yet.
Thanks for the reply! I’m really enjoying MW. I am a little shocked that they don’t bring more damage. I’m playing the fallen order venthyr build and using it mostly on trash, but I still only do about 1k-1.5k per run. My shaman, at a similar gear level, was doing way more with the kyrian vesper totem build.
It just seems strange to me that back in BfA MW had the crane build which made them do huge damage and healing on pulls and it seems as if that was taken from MW and given to Hpal in the form of Ashen hallow. I’m not a huge fan of the new crane talent, I’m not sure if I’m supposed to use it more proactively or if I just use enveloping at 2 stacks, but waiting for 3 feels like a long time.
Sounds like you just need more practice playing the spec. I average between 2.5 to 4k dps on trash (depending in size of group and how long they are up) and 2 to 3k dps single target on bosses.
It most likely has to do with your low crit that your dps is so low. With more gear yoi will do more dmg once you hit a point you will start doing more dmg than your shaman at equal ilvl.
Shaman dps starts off strong but at a point mw pulls a head.
You must be a troll. You have so many consistently bad takes that I can’t see how we can both have functioning brains and play the same game.
Rshams start out at 2-3k DPS by just keeping FS up and hitting LB on CD or procs while still healing 80% of the time.
As your group gets better and you start spending 50-75% of your time in a key DPS’ing and you run Vesper Lego you start to pump 4-5k even in 15’s.
Once you’re pulling big, maxing DPS and are geared for max DPS you can push 7-8k overall as Resto Shaman. I have never seen a MW break 4k. Most of them do everything they can to max damage in higher keys and will still top out at ~3k or so overall.
Yeah. The problem with mistweaver monk is they are handcuffed when it comes to dealing damage. MW need a reduced GCD if they are expected to do any meaningful damage. There’s just too many times when their damage falls off a cliff in order to heal the group. Sneaking in a GCD to kick/punch is laughable damage and requires positioning that isn’t always feasible.
