So I am a pretty big mount farmer. I don’t go nuts and multibox but I always make sure I have a plethora of alts on my account to hunt rare mounts.
I loved every camp I have ever had to do as it was exciting and challenging. Camping Aoenaxx, Poseidus, etc was thrilling because I knew once I saw that really rare rare, it was mine.
Soundless is different. Soundless is the first rare that feels like an utter chore and ridiculous design to camp. 2-8 hour spawn timer with a 1% chance at a mount is not fun or thrilling. It’s just tedious and defeating.
I have killed Soundless probably 100 times across my alts and main in the past 2 weeks, most of which have been in 40 man raids. How many mounts did I see drop in this time for anyone? 2…2 out of probably 1000’s of people trying to get it.
I work from home so I have the privilege of sitting afk and checking for a spawn or checking group finder while working. 99% of the player base does not have this privilege, and even I am already questioning who designed such a crappy mount hunt.
Am I alone in this? I don’t need to be handed things. I love the thrill of the hunt, but this just seems like overkill.

At least it’s not another timeless… you want a chore grind, just finding that was/is a pain in the butt… (seriously blizz your censor system is stupid).
Doesn’t seem that different to me than trying for Invincible or Attumen’s horse or Rivendare’s Charger or Huolon, etc.
But I don’t camp them or try to get them all the time.

It’s a reskin. Kill him once for the credit and then move on IMO.
If it ever starts to bug me (it won’t) then I’ll leave an alt there 2-3 xpacs later to snipe him every so often.

There is a big difference in that it’s a once a week grind. You run a 20 min raid once per alt and then move on.
Timeless was hard, but you left an alt in a spot and afked but if your npc scan went off, you knew all your camping paid off and it was over.
This doesn’t matter. This you could find the rare over and over again for years and never be any closer because of RNG.

legend has it that there are people who still wait for huolon to this day.

I think it’d be more reasonable if it just had a more predictable spawn timer. Like the Mechagon ones are rare, but you can pretty well know when they’ll be up again.
Soundless is just an eight hour shot in the dark. Which makes farming it very hard.

Not to mention it has several spawn points too
I have only killed him a half dozen times or so and only sat and camped for him twice I think. I don’t like all of the things attached to the mob to just make it as long of a grind as possible. The mount has a low drop rate, the spawn has a random long timer, the mob does not have a stationary single spawn point. It is just too much stuff that seem like it was made just to be a pain to farm.
Now that I have flying I will kill him if I see him up but I don’t think it is a mount I will actively farming.

I thought Soundless was amazing the first time I encountered it. We were about 10 people trying to get atop the coral. My heart was hammering, but I managed to find a path with a Deepcoral Pod and glider and got there first.
The fight was tough as I was undergeared at the time, but finally won, cheered and was about to loot my well-deserved mount… but there was no mount. Hype deflated.
Just another boring not-so-rare with almost no chance of looting the cool item.
And now that people fly, there’s no challenge to it and he’s never up so I gave up. Don’t need the headache
Edit: I’m definitely not a mount farmer. I just like going after very specific mounts I’d like to use and Soundless ain’t one of 'em

And I’m still trying to get Huolon’s mount after camping it on alts since it was first released.
How is that different?
Why do you need a 40 man raid to kill that ?
Huolon has one spawn point and has a relatively easy respawn timer and can be killed over and over, not once a day

You don’t need a 40 man raid, but because of the absurd situation good people will try to get as many people as possible in for a chance.

Well I guess I will never see him up again anyway, I had flying early so I came across him early morning when herbing. Didn’t think he was anything special so I just killed him.
And again… I’m still trying to get it after how long? Just because I can camp it all day doesn’t make it any less “tedious or defeating.”
My point was that regardless of how different the spawn point or timer or how often, when something has that low of a droprate, it all feels the same.
this is why i don’t farm for mounts. i am not a mount person anyway. all the rare mounts i have i literally got in less than 6 times doing whatever it is that dropped it.
This guy is not worth farming unless you already have every other mount the game has to offer. Basically any other mount farm you could do is more productive.
