I used to use a great addon for stealing spells in dungeons & content, but it was destroyed in the TWW pre-patch. I don’t know what to use now. Is there something mages are using these days to steal spells in dungeons?
I actually use plater for this, I have a couple of plater mods that change the bar color and add a border to the mobs that have a dispellable debuff. The reason is that often the mob that needs the spell stolen is not what I am attacking.
I also wrote a relatively simple weakaura to show what I’ve just stolen. It is called “spell stolen” by me, Pari
Dang, I was hoping to not have to use Plater like that. I have the same issue, the mob that needs a spell stolen will often not be the mob I am attacking. I am now realizing how dependent I was on that addon… (mad at myself now) Guess I need to get better at being a mage!
I didn’t like how plater looked so I made a profile that looks mostly like the wow nameplates, with the same default colors… though not an exact match.
After a little while I can’t imagine playing without it! It’s so powerful. what was the addon you were using?
It was called Mage Spellsteal Helper. It put an icon in the middle of my screen (small & easily ignored) to show when there was something around me with a spell to steal. I did not have to keep an eye out on all the mobs all the time (I am not good at that, heh heh heh), but when that icon showed up I was pressing my stealing button!
I keep my UI very clean with little to distract me (my weakness). Regular mage UI’s are too much for me, this addon was great, but alas, it seems abandoned now.
Oh wow that one is old! last updated 2019. You could maybe do something similar with a weakaura with looking for a dispellable debuff with “soft enemy”
I like and have a very minimal interface myself, but plater does most of the heavy lifting. It can be deeply customized
