We all know now that flying mounts heirlooms were bad for the game so the intention of this thread is to bring up what was good in BC and what was Bad…
Maybe we get a different Expansion in the future?
I Didnt like:
Flying Mounts= that has already been discussed.
Shattrath = one capital destroys the whole purpose of multiple capitals of races in the game.
Outland = Alien planet … I dunno i just feel like it was too much…
Daily quests= Looging in doing dailies and logging out is one of the reasons we stopped playing this game…
I liked:
JewelCrafting: fits the game perfectly and adds more customization on gears etc.
Draenei / Elves: these races were already in Warcraft 3 they fit the game nicely.
Silvermoon and Draenei Capital: Its nice to have more races capitals and not a one global capital like shatrath.
Quel thalas Island: The elven island that you could dungeon and raid was nice!
These are mostly in retrospect now, in terms of what we could take for future WoW Classic + type content.
Liked:
Heroic dungeons
Jewelcrafting
Karazhan
The feel of Hellfire, Zangarmarsh, and Nagrand
New skills making under-used specs more viable
Disliked
The rest of the zones
The fact we were in Outland at all, really. Would have preferred a few new zones on Azeroth.
Flying
Leveling past 60
Leaving Azeroth behind.
Dual specs
Switching raids to 10/25 and upending guilds.
Dailies becoming a real thing. Felt too much like the game was telling me what to do when I logged in, and that I had to log in each day.
Hated blood elves. The mass movement from Alliance to play the pretty elf watered down the culture differences between factions and began the end of WPVP
I did enjoy the extra races, jc, more class balance, Druid flight quest was amazing and having exclusive Anzu summoning ability, raids were more complex, heroic dungeons.
Didn’t like the theme change from fantasy to a sci-fi/fantasy world of Outland.
I liked that the endgame raids became accessible; 25 people was a lot more doable consistently on our realm than 40 people was.
I loathed that Arena fundamentally changed the way classes worked in relation to each other and that classes have continued to fundamentally change over successive expansions as a result.
I liked:
Flying
Shattrath - shared city
Scryer / Aldor rep to align to with no PvP element to it.
Outland had cool zones
Netherwing rep and rewards.
Decent rewards for rep grinds.
Things I disliked:
Elves on Horde
Changes to Shaman (Agi instead of str and DW vs 2 hand)
Horde Paladins / Alliance Shaman
PvP sections of most zones
Arenas
2 tiers of raiding 10 man starter raids and 25 man “real” raids.
Short dungeons that get spammed instead of large night long dungeon crawls that are not raids
Heroic dungeons.
Liked- the new zones and content, and how they finally gave some love to hybrid classes. (Playing a ret pally was finally badass like it should be for example.)
Didnt like- when they started making changes to make the game easier in the old world like removing almost all elites, the fact that all endgame content from vanilla was immediatly made obsolete and never ran anymore (“bruh your 58 just go to outland now”). Also the massive power jump in gear that made level 61 greens better than T3 naxx sets. Arenas as well since they screwed pvp as all pvp then revolved around arenas instead of BG’s and Wpvp
Liked:
Leveling - Everything from the look and feel of the zones to the pace and difficulty. It was very Vanilla-like.
The raids were well done.
Arenas.
Disliked:
Heroics - I hate the idea of progressing through harder versions of the same content you’ve already completed.
Shattrath - both the combined faction aspect and the whole look and feel. Just wasn’t a very interesting city.
I may be misremembering but did everything start to become currency based in BC? (honor gear, arena gear, raid gear, etc.). I understand that RNG can be frustrating but that’s part of the excitement of downing a boss, wondering what’s going to drop.
The new environment, being able to see beyond the Dark Portal and the setting for the expansion to Warcraft 2/Warcraft 3 TFT.
The music was great.
Loved the dungeons and quests, and the lore. It felt immersive going into this brand new world I had only seen from the RTS, and seeing the Alliance expedition from Warcraft 2 was awesome!
Dislikes
Flying kind of ruined the game for me, at the time I liked it, but I realize over time it was a bad move.
Addition of arenas. ALWAYS hated that they added arenas, and I knew back then they were trying to focus on more of an “eSports” environment with this.
Paladins to Horde and Shamans to Alliance. Ruined the flavor of the factions for me.
