I deliberately went after the battle pet Smoochums because I’m the proud owner of a gorgeous Persian cat, and Smoochums had the classic look of a Persian with his gorgeous round head and big eyes.
So I come back on after 8.1 and find that for some reason beyond the scope of logic Blizzard has taken a unique pet look and converted into just another cat!
I know, its not earthsaking, I get that. But it was a damned costly and time consuming pet to get and it was completely unique and special. I am very disappointed in you, Blizzard!

I just dont get it. With all the things in this game that need working on, why would they spend time doing that!
Why change what lovely and special and turn it into just a ghost cat. I mean, it isn’t ugly, but its not what I paid all that gold and pet charms for. I feel totally ripped off.

It will sound silly to a lot of people, but Smoochums was sort of special to me. Over the past 25 years or so, all my companion cats have been Persians or part-Persians. So I have owned and lost a number of these dear friends over my life, and Smoochums personified those little friends for me in the game. My current cat, my little Beau who is now 14 years old, is a Himalayan Persian who bears a striking resemblance to the original Smoochums.
This really has hurt me far more personally than anything Blizzard has done before. I know, its illogical. Its a game, its pixels, but that little ghost Persian was important to me. I am very sad

Wow. I normally don’t care much about the battle pets, but I did buy Smoochums because he was a cute, chubby, ghost cat. Now it’s not cute at all.
Glad they took the time to ruin something that no one complained about, all the while the typos I reported pre-BFA still exist, and my Uldir boots have a weird, clipping foot problem that was also reported forever ago.

I was so looking forward to getting him, having had a cat irl just like him for 12 years. As Missunknown has asked, please tell us this change will be reverted!

I felt the same when the bear model was changed and my orc now looked silly riding the warbear. If I wanted silly I’d just put him on my goat, which I do now by the way.

Really? He was adorable before. There was no need to change his appearance.

Why did they change it from a funny fat cat to a regular boring cat ?

It’s fine to have these pets locked behind reputation but the added cost of charms was just annoying. These pets should have a different appearance because they require more work.
People wanted Smoochums because he looked cool. Now he’s just a generic cat.
The pet for the Tortololian is 200 charms and it’s another generic turtle. It’s not even worth it.

I doubt anyone does like it. It’s hideous. It’s Mr. Wiggles 2.0

As someone who doesn’t like cats, I’m happy with any change that makes cats worse.
Smoochums deserves to lose every polygon!

Then you should be happy since he’s a dead kitty. Isn’t that better than a live kitty?

Canonically, ghosts can shed hair.
Just think of the mess…

Well that’s what we have the cleaning robots for.

I figure with all the cookie crumbs and ghostly cat hair you’d certainly need a cleaning robot.
You’re such an interesting fellow, Grumbles.

Any chance we can get our charms refunded if this change is intentional?
There are plenty of more interesting pets to buy than a regular-faced ghost cat.
