What did legion have that BfA does not?

Just a prefix here.
I don’t mean to say that I think BfA is a great expansion.
And I don’t want “good design” as an answer either :stuck_out_tongue:

Lots of crowds (apart from maybe the PvP crowd) seemed to love legion but do not feel the same way towards BfA.

What parts of the game that legion had do you feel this expansion is lacking?

For me it was the world content and how doing your emissaries each day and getting past exalted rep could land you a legendary so although the odds were slim, every day there was some relaxed content to get on with.

Plus the faster release schedule meant you were never sat doing the same stuff for too long.

Now each day I log on and see that I have done all the WQ’s before, none of the rewards are upgrades, and doing 4 of them would net me a few gold but im not lacking in gold.

Fel green. And for that I am eternally grateful

Personal connection. We were fighting against the Burning Legion, with the aid of our entire class community, as leader of our respective orders.

BFA, we are watching the Sylvanas’ crazy show.

the content drops are really spread out without them taking long to do.

i quit for 3 months. and when i came back it took like 6 hours to do 3 months of missed content.

Legion was able to mask class problems with Artifact Weapons and Legendaries.

BFA took everything that was great about Artifact Weapons and threw it away. It kept the worst aspects of Artifact Weapons. This exposed the underlying problems in class progression that was introduced in WOD and exacerbated in each expansion since.

Legendaries.

People like to pretend that they were the worst thing ever, but the reality is that they were the carrot that kept people coming back.

i hated the random drop legendary. it ultimately led me to quitting legion. i hated it.

Tier armor. Off GCD cooldowns. Master loot. Less welfare gear.

And less nathanos yelling at me to do pointless stuff.

Since they are making gear with traits for dungeons and raids, perhaps they should do the same for world content so that casual players have the carrot while people that like progression can get that too?
So if you do dungeons you get gear that helps in dungeons, raids for raids, and world content for world content.

Although that could lead to people complaining they need 3 sets of gear…

A visual representation of all the work you put into your gimmick item (artifact weapon / Heart of Azeroth) The weapons were a great side activity to do when unlocking all their visuals and colors. BFA brings nothing, absolutely nothing. There’s nothing to see, nothing to work towards, no reason to give a s***. How anyone at Blizz thought this would be a good idea is beyond me.

This is a clear example of “your brain on drugs”. But at least the fried egg was tasty.

Class order halls. From what I can see it was a hit. Plus it gave you something else to do between patches.

They need to make world content rewards less impactful in Ilvl, and more impactful in their setting. Gear drops from world quests should be powerful in the open world, better than raid gear even. But the same should go for raid gear within its settings, and pvp as well. You would still be able to function with gear from other content, but the game should reward you for doing certain types of content with rewards that make that content easier to repeat.

Class halls story was pretty much the same as the war campaign.
But you did have the artefact to level and get different variants of which kept the halls relevant.

Do you really want to go back to that though? Do you remember how terribly they implemented pvp gear and its respective stats?

Legion felt like the people worked on it cared, and put time and effort into it. BfA feels like a low effort “we need to get this out to make our arbitrary release date” expansion.

I was really just throwing it in there for the consistency. I could care less what they do with pvp gear as long it makes those folks happy. Doesn’t effect me.

Yeah I suppose your right. Just felt a bit more “refreshing” since they were all different.

I liked that every class almost had a unique feel to it. There were random interactions that only Druids could do, things only demon hunters could kill, missions that specifically call for a certain class. The homogeneous feel of all the quests, areas, missions, even weapons and armor of BFA really makes it feel punishing to have alts.
