What did it accomplish?

So in the latest cinematic featuring Tyrande and Sylavans nothing at all was accomplished right? Like the entire fight was pointless, but even if you break it down to smaller parts they are pointless as well. Nothing changed from the beginning of the fight to the end. It was literally just fancy graphics to distract the players.

Sylvanas came there to distract everyone from the real target, the sigil, she succeeds in this, leaves, and later we show up just in time to see it get taken. So the entire fight not only didn’t succeed in stopping Sylvanas, but didn’t even slow her down, provide more time, more of a chance, or anything at all.

Let’s go deeper. At one point during the cinematic Tyrande literally prays/begs to Elune to give her the strength, her life for Sylvanas’ life. And Next thing we see she is Team Rocket Blasting Off… only for the power to then be immediately removed so the sacrifice and kill cannot happen. So what was the point of giving her the Team Rocket power up? It literally accomplished nothing. Sylvanas just smoked away again, what she was already doing to begin with. The same thing could have been accomplished by just letting her smoke away the first time and not Team Rocket Blasting Off. So why was the power up even given if the entire purpose of said power up was never going to be allowed?

The entire Team Rocket Power Up(and for some reason a Dragon Aspect showing up and deciding to just yell instead of breathe green flame) all meant nothing. It changed nothing, it could literally have never happened and everything would have played out the same. Tyrande could have literally never shown up at all and the entire scenario would have played out the same. Sylavans would distract the defenders, then smoke away, and the sigil would be stolen.

It was LITERALLY pointless. It accomplished nothing. Is this it? I know there is more on PTR but all of it it literally wrapping up the Night Warrior Questline and having Tyrnade give up on getting Justice and hunting Sylvanas. So it that it? That was the peak of Night Warrior? A power up that literally accomplished NOTHING at all?

Well that’s one thing that changed. They didn’t have the Sigil and the start, and now they do.

Seems to be that either A. Elune isn’t actually down with that Tyrande is doing. Or B. Elune simply isn’t as powerful as fans keep hoping she is.

Because either A. She took her power away or B. It ran out before it could finish the job.

Yeah, but now she’s dying and needs us to save her. Which is another thing that’s changed.

We know the Jailer is keeping secrets from Sylvanas, we did not know that before this cinematic.

We know that Elune does not want Tyrande to sacrifice herself, we did not know that before this cinematic.

We know more about how Tyrande’s Night Warrior Powers work (which she retains after 9.1).

And we got a cool cinematic out of it.

Relax.

Then why give her the power to Team Rocket and chase Sylavans? It makes no sense.

Go back to BfA and listen to Tyrande…she demanded Elune give her the power of the Night Warrior, and Elune did that. But when it came time to give her life to kill Sylvanas (which she was preparing to do if you look at the subtitles) that’s when Elune decided enough’s enough she doesn’t want to lose Tyrande over petty vengeance.

This is not one of those “oh woe is the Night Elves” moments. This is a “Elune actually cares about Tyrande” moment and I hope the Night Elf community gets over their woe-is-me long enough to recognize it.

Maybe she was like “I can give her this power for like 5 secs, hopefully shes kills sylvanas in that time.”

I think the only point other than to show the night warrior’s power was useless was to tell Sylvanas Nathanos is dead.

Tyrande’s part was entirely pointless other than to relay that information to Sylvanas and she did absolutely nothing. Sylvanas was just there for a distraction and succeeded, they trade blows. Sylvanas could have just turned into smoke at any time to leave if she was actually ever in danger.

But that is the entire story of the night warrior, show up, fail to stop anything and then disappear.

We have to get over common sense to “recognize” it

Okay? So get over it. Do you think common sense has ever factored in to the way Blizzard tells stories? Do you think Night Elves and Tyrande and Elune are special in that regard?

I am kind of interested how they are gonna twist the elune one

But in that exact moment, not before, not at the beginning, not any other time but that exact moment in time that Tyrande prayed/begged Elune to give her the power, and we see power surge through her, so we know for a fact that Elune again empowers her even more…But Why?

The whole point in the moment was that Tyrande was willing to die to kill Sylvanas, and Elune said yes, gave her the power, you see the power up, Team Rocket blasts off, then Elune turned around and said no and took it away before the deed was done.

Why did she say yes and give it to her to allow her to again boost in power in that moment, to only take it away before the deed was done? It makes no sense. If she didn’t want Tyrande to die why give her the Team Rocket powers that are gonna kill her in the first place? She didn’t have them before, she does now, but they are gonna kill her so Elune takes them back. Why give them in the first place then?

The entire scenario makes no narrative sense and doesn’t actually move the plot forward. The powers were already killing Tyrande, that didn’t change here, Sylavans and the Jailer were already stealing sigils, that didn’t change here. Nothing changed. This wasn’t even a side plot, it was completely devoid of all plot, it was story filler at it’s purest form, literal nothing.

Mostly I think the answers to your (totally fair) questions are “because it leads to a cool cutscene” and if that bothers you then now is the time to cut bait.

I’m guessing Blizzard thinks this pathetic cinematic with little to no substance will tide people over. I really hope that they are wrong.

Because yea, the Night warrior has been worthless since it’s inception. Close to two years, and it hasn’t acomplished anything of value. The writers should be ashamed.

Didn’t most of the people in this thread already unsubscribe or am I hallucinating?

Oh I have. Did already back in february, and i’m reaching the end of the six month sub in 6 days. The sub just happened to expire around the same time as 9.1 dropped.

Maybe they have and are running out their sub? Maybe they didn’t. Either way that’s all immaterial to the discussion at hand though. It doesn’t change the validity of the questions or points made. And your transparent attempt at devaluing opinions you dont like with petty insults does not add to the discussion. Please stop.

Petty insults? Okay.

Half the threads today were filled with the same people “Oh my god Blizzard sucks so much how dare they do thing A and B, I’m unsubscribing trash game” …

I’m not sure how much productive conversation can be had with that kind of attitude. If the reason you made this thread was just to have the same group of people agree with you on how pointless the cinematic was and not to be challenged at all, maybe you should have posted it on the WoW subreddit where upvotes mean something (very little, but more than nothing).

No. You keep bringin this up, and you keep trying to derail topics with it. Just stop. Your first post was fine, added to the conversation, and further more questions and discussion. But this is pure trolling and purposefully trying to derail topics. I will once again ask you to Please Stop.

I will also ask everyone else in this thread to please ignore such replies and continue the honest discussion of opinions at hand.

Sometimes, the correct approach is to tell people how dissapointed you are at something. This is one of those times. Why Blizzard is allergic to letting the Night elves have any kind of satisfaction is beyond me, unless they think stringing people along will keep sub numbers up. Well it won’t work in my case.

Sometimes the correct approach is to accept the thing you cannot change. And if that’s too much to handle sometimes the correct approach is to move on.
