Casual player. Wondering what items I should use as crafted since there is a 2 piece limit?
Im thinking for Prot, Shield and weapon. And for Ret, Weapon and Neck piece.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

If you’re just being casual just pick what you like. I’d do weapons and shield just cause they’re transmog options as well.
For min maxing though, typically you would go neck and weapon or neck and belt for slightly more damage.
Unless I’m out of the loop on something that changed, theres only a 2 item limit on embellished items. Neck and Belt (lariat and unstable belt) come embellished when crafted. Prot has a shield that’s embellished but you could craft the primal molten defender shield which isn’t, 1H for Prot, 2H for ret and both specs can utilize the neck and belt. If you have about 50k-60K laying around you can also add the alchemical packet embellishment for the increased duration and persist through death on food buff that doesn’t count towards your 2.

Exactly. I use the neck and belt for both, then I have ret weapon and prot weapon and shield.
Also to add before crafting I’m not sure if you are into mythic plus but grab a keystone and add bonus valor to the title. You’ll get carried by a ton of extremely geared players. Every time you complete a key drop it down to your next highest level completed. (I.e after your first +2 at then end you get a +5 shadowmoon and you’ve completed it at a +2 drop it down to a +3 and advertise bonus valor again) then craft your weakest items when you’ve hit your interest/skill cap with mythic +. You’ll have a ton of valor to upgrade when you’re done also.
Id suggest the lariat and frostfire belt for embellishments, then make the 2h wpn non-embelished. Bring all 3 to 405-418 and your good.
The weapon embellishments are not very good tbh, especially compared to the belt when you get the trinket from ruby that deals fire damage. This is more for ret, but can be used as prot too.
Ok. On my Priest I had pants and gloves. Tried a Lariat and it wouldn’t let me. Tried a staff and same thing. So I thought there was a 2 item limit. I didnt even add embellishments to them.
So far on this character Ive only done the shield.
For prot my embellished items have been Lariat and Legs.
