What covenant ability do you think is the best for Rogues?

Not talking about the rogue abilities but moreso the one all classes get.

At first I was looking at Door of Shadows, however a skip like that seems kind of redundant for a stealth class.

Likewise, with the Kyrian one, we already have a way to remove status effects. Sure, having a way to remove it more often is nice, but still kinda lackluster imo

Maldraxxus is a survivability one afaik and doesn’t seem as useful without conduits. So Nightfae, a straight up speed boost ability, feels like the most useful one to me. What’s y’all’s thoughts?

You shouldn’t be picking based on these abilities but the ones that are rogue specific or the soulbinds. These are minor and aren’t a major deal.

There’s not really an overall winner, it would depend heavy on which utility you personally value.

NF is the best option for moving faster. Considering I am moving at 60% base run speed in stealth with nightstalker, this is hardly necessary. The only consistently faster classes might be monks, ferals or DH’s. A few of the NF soulbinds also add substantial runspeed, so this may become the default pick for alts who mostly farm mogs.

Venthyr is the best option for skips and closing gaps. but we can stealth, shroud and shadowstep, so that’s not really relevant. It might also allow access to interesting places in pvp that aren’t super easily done for many others (up and down a walkway, maybe the rooftops of some structures in BGs). If there is a fight similar to wrathion, there may be some raid value in allowing you to move without incurring a penalty. Mostly this ability just exists to demonstrate how bad the void elf teleport ability is.

Necrolord is a damage bubble. For a class that shouldn’t be taking damage and has to lose DPS to create the bubble, this has basically no pve value. Might be interesting for pvp.

Kyrian is clearly the most useful for raids and maybe even for pvp, since it lowers the need to blow cloak on something. But these abilities don’t exist in a vacuum. They have the most annoying actual rogue cov ability and the boy scout vibe of the whole covenant is pretty antithetical to rogue as a class.

ER isn’t as bad as people seem. You have a 45 second window to land on the ability.

i only pvp when i actively play end game wow and rogues are such a soft as grape squish class that the necrolord damage bubble is very appealing.

I’d say Venthyr is probably the worse. If it didn’t break Stealth, it would be significantly better to me. But, with Shadowstep/Grapple Hook and Stealth, it’s not that great. I haven’t been able to see Venthyr conduits though for some reason. I went Venthyr on an alt and the whole hall bugged on me, I don’t know. Maybe there’s a conduit that adds something to it that would change my mind.

As for the other three. They seem good for different situations.
The Necrolord bubble isn’t too good on it’s own. But, if you get the CC immunity soulbind, then there’s probably some situations where that could be very good in PVP. Especially at the start of the expansion when people have no idea what does what and will probably burn a CC or two trying to stop you. :stuck_out_tongue:
Night Fae soulform thing is really great for running away. Has a soulbind to even give it a heal. So, if you’re in a bad spot, it might save you. And can obviously be great for catching someone when your mobility is on CD since it has an instant blink with two other blink uses throughout the duration.
Likewise, Kyrian’s potion can also save you in a tight spot. Removing bleeds is always very valuable to a Rogue and it will also allow you to use Cloak of Shadow offensively without as much consideration for being defensive with it.

Going Necrolord but only for the spear.

I like Night Fae story the most but the ability clearing combat on a failed kill is not going to work for me …

It’s toxic. Lmao. And unironically one of the better options.

You should not be picking based on the signature abilities, you should pick based on the rogue specific ones.

However here’s my thoughts:

Kyrian - good if you want something to clear bleeds since we can’t any other way. Extra healing is extra healing.

Necro - shield lasts 2 minutes so you can pre-shield for probably every single boss in a dungeon, also useful in pvp since it makes you CC immune. (whoever said it was useless in pve is silly, and wrong).

Venthyr - not needed for skips, but useful in pvp for an extra gap closer and potential snare and root breaker or aoe blind with certain soulbinds.

Nightfae - weaker sprint + weak teleports + possibility to trait for a stun you won’t use since you have CS and a weak heal over time. Probably the weakest of the bunch.
