What content would you like to see, after naxx?

So, we all know - the nochanges vanilla timeline ends with naxx. What next? Nochanges TBC? Or, maybe something that’s not that much nochanges, but follows the same design philosophy?

Let’s discuss, what would you like to see as new content in Classic?

I know you are afraid that it would be same quality as retail. But, miracles happen. See what happened to Lineage 2 - a company, that turned complete pay-to-win nuts, has made a customized Classic version with some content added on different rules - just like Blizzard could add Karazhan to Vanilla - and that actually worked out.

So, let’s suggest some new content. What comes first to your mind? Of course - Karazhan, as a post-naxx raid, and Azshara Crater as a battleground.

Let’s say that’s our 1.15. But, there will come time that it becomes outdated too. What next?

My suggestions:
Patch 1.16: Finish the Uldum questline
Patch 1.17: Stranglethorn Vale as a persistent battleground - something similar way to Wintergrasp, but without vehicles. Or, more like something similar to old AV, but with some bonus for winning, and a restart timer.
Patch 1.18: Something related to Emerald Dream. I loved the “mapid 169” Emerald Dream map, and was looking forward to see it finished - only to find out that it came out in Legion as a big Nightmarish thing. I’d suggest some alternate ending to the Morrowgrain thread, where Fandral gets healed, and finds something important with that Morrowgrain research.
Maybe add this as a continuation of the [Fragment of Nightmare] quest?
Patch 1.19: Long-promised player housing, plus add some riddle/puzzle quests around the world, and maybe update some world events with new rewards. Also, announce TBC servers.
Patch 1.20: Caverns of time, with Old Hillsbrad Foothills and Culling of Stratholme initially availble as 5man dungeons, plus some cross-faction event leading to unlocking Hyjal, and the long-promised War of the Ancients raid.
Patch 1.21: Some event similar to the Diablo anniversary one. Some special “cow level” or something else available only during the event. Later during the same patch, a fresh server will open, starting with phase 1, but going to TBC straight after naxx.
Patch 1.22: Itemization update. Add some new item slot, and maybe 3rd trinket slot or something like that. Also, either some new class, or new spec for each existing one. Necromancer, anyone?

And, what are your ideas?

Would be awesome to see the vanilla version of hellfire peninsula put to use! Also Karazhan

Point of note: Content Patch 6 will be 1.18.

Pretty sure most people on the bandwagon for Classic are in the “don’t touch Classic” team.
As soon as you start adding content you remove that, it’s no longer classic anymore.

I do believe there is room for future growth based off Classic, following classic’s design and not falling into the accessibility pitfall of retail. However, I believe that should be kept separately from Classic entirely.

I’d like to see TBC servers so that we can do the whole song and dance over again of people wanting to remove flying or add X feature or whatever personal change they want.

Nothing. Zero, zilch, nada.

It’s not a fear it would be like Retail. It’s a lack of interest in having WOW Classic turned into a progressive game that negates whatever step I’m at by adding more to the end.

In fact, if I were to relent at all, I would want end-game to be unchanged, but have Blizzard hire back some of their original zone quest creators to fill in more areas with more to do while leveling. Quest rewards would be level appropriate, perhaps adding a few with better stat options for some classes that struggled for gear (but with great care to not make it overpowered in any usage).

(NOTE: I do want TBC Classic. I want it as completely separate servers. I would play WOW Classic and TBC Classic simultaneously for years. I just don’t want WOW Classic to ever stop being a vanilla WOW recreated.)

Nothing, anything after Naxx is not Vanilla.

The Burning Crusade Classic. On separate servers.

Yeah, I think adding Hyjal, Old Hellfire, Kharazan, Azshara Battleground, Ravasaur Trainers etc. would be neat, all that cut Vanilla content, but there’s just no clear consensus on what changes would come to Classic if changes were to happen. It’s far more beneficial to just keep Classic as close to 1.12 as possible and have it stay that way.

More specifically I’d have Azshara Battleground fill a different niche than the other Battlegrounds without it being the best at honor gain, I’d have Hyjal be a leveling zone somewhere in the 40s or 50s or wherever there’s a significant slump in quests.

Finally I’d have Kharazan be a 20man Raid running parallel to Naxxramas and the next step after AQ20. That way you’d have MC/Onyxia->BWL->AQ40->Naxx and ZG->AQ20->Kharazan

But yeah, it’d be much more preferable to keep Classic the way it was and also have TBC Classic as well. I don’t even necessarily care for Wrath of the Lich King because at that point it’s just Modern Lite at that point.

Can we you know just let Classic be Classic for awhile before we start trying to change it?

why we even talking about this when classic hasn’t been released.

After 2-3 years of naxx they should implement

World Of Warcraft: Classic - Jump to Lightspeed

It would implement space ships that the new “shipwright” class would be able to create.

We would be able to fly to different planets!

I’d love to see a lot of small patches that add to the world without an expansion. TBC was my favourite to raid in, and I’d also love to continue there after vanilla, but I’m even more interested in keeping WoW flightless and a level 60 cap; I want old raids to stay relevant, and for there to be a super long progression path.

Might just be me, though. D:

I think if they hired in old raid designers, they could make new raids without completely invalidating old ones; that was vanillas’ and TBCs’ strengths, afterall.

None at all.

The only way to avoid invalidating old raids is to carefully not make the new ones “harder” and carefully not make the rewards from them “better”. Without that sense of continued progression, the people who are most insistent that they’re going to run out of stuff to do and need more and more content are unlikely to be satisfied.
