What compels the newly turned undead to accept the Forsaken?

I’ve often wondered what causes certain NPC entities to accept and join the Forsaken, for your character, you remember nothing of your old life and simply work your way through the rise of power and accept it, because it’s all you really know. Others however, some remember their old life, and choose to hate themselves or embrace it. Lilian Voss as an ex: Living with what they now are.

Other characters like those recently turned from the alliance in Darkshore, seem to either have been Brainwashed, had a new perspective from undeath, or accepted some sort of deal from the Banshee queen, I can’t remember the major NPC who was recently converted, she looks like Maiev, and the Night elf rangers.

Do they ever go into major detail as to why they accept and join the Horde? Being an amnesiac hero of the Horde has always made me wonder about my fellow Forsaken.

I’m pretty sure you’re not told, as a player Forsaken, that you don’t remember your old life—that’s left open ended for you to decide, and I like that.

My main Horde character is a Forsaken rogue who was murdered in a fit of vengeance, given he used to be a professional killer. In undeath, he’s no different, and he’s already hunted and killed the man who killed him first, not before thanking him for allowing him the chance to receive the gift of immortality, of course.

As for the new Forsaken Wardens, they decided to stay because they believe Elune forsook them at their time of need, so now they’ve turned on her, too. Kinda loose, that reason, but hey, that’s what they tell us. I’m pretty sure they’re actually just being mind controlled.

My guess is acceptance? It is sad to see when some one gets turned in to a forsaken and watch how their loved ones react.

That one didn’t make sense to me brotha

Well first step is accepting undead or returning to death. Once your character accepts undeath. What are the choices. Join the Forsaken, get rejected by the living or wander.

Very poor writing

Wait. Does this mean the forsaken are like death support group?

Basically this. And a 2 faction system where we can’t cross faction it.

Now why would a freshly turned human made forsaken back the very people who’d not like them very much?

Lets ask the alliance death knights. Or even us night elf Demon Hunters. Demon hunters an even odder case of sorts. We volunteered for our fel makeover. We asked for the dirty looks we get lol. DK’s and forsaken that choice was made for them.

but people who have died usually didn’t have a say to be turned undead. Usually they’re just risen and then if they don’t kill the people who turned them undead they usually get a choice of freewill.

It was cookies and punch for me.

Uh hum… I don’t know, I haven’t done the Undead starter zone in a long time, but I remember a quest about an Undead woman reminiscing about her old life and wants you to spy on her former husband. At the end of the quest, she remembers but doesn’t want to reconnect with him sayings its another life gone by, or something like that.

There’s nowhere else to go and your mind is twisted by necrotic energies and general lack of physical needs.

Not every undead goes forsaken, replay first quests and read them.

Darling, with all the nasty sneaky stuff our wannabee Lich queen is doing…she might be using a type of mind control but makes you think you had a choice

1st,. they do remember their old lives, there’s plenty of examples of this just in BFA with Lilian Voss and Zeling.

I guess there’s not much to accept, you’re a zombie that cannot speak “human” anymore, so you’re left with two options, rot in solitude or to affiliate to the only group that will ever accept you. The vast majority join the forsaken and others exile themselves like some of the NPC’s in tirisfal glades.

The Forsaken aren’t a cult, but the isolating nature of unlife makes them more like a cult than a support group. “You can’t go back to your family and friends, and you can’t get help from anyone but us.”

Oh and Darling, you can tell how messed up forsaken are by listening to NPCs and quests

We are forsaken. we are cursed and more whine and then

we might continue our race

I suspect mind control.

Medical, dental, 401k, profit sharing, 4 weeks of paid vacation, and all the gnomes we can eat. Plus where else are you going to go?

I mean, it’s not like you have a choice. You can either forsake the Forsaken and eventually go insane since literally every other race will want nothing to do with you otherwise, or you can join a community of your own kind and work towards something.

Lilian went rogue, and all she did was almost get herself killed by necromancers because for whatever reason she forgot they have influence over the Undead.

Being Undead really hurts your prospects in joining other factions. I feel it’s a case of, “Well, what else am I going to do” more than mind control or other factors.

(And yes DKs are Undead technically but they’re more…of whatever they used to be, in addition to being part of a group sponsored by the Alliance and Horde. Not sure how that changed in recent times, however.)
