What class/spec is your MAIN and why?

Ret paladin. My human one specifically, although I have quite a few. He’s from back in vanilla, but did not become my main until WLK. Since then I’ve sometimes made a point of making some other toon my main because I liked the feel of them for a given expansion (orc warrior for WoD, DK for SL), but my ret pally just always makes his way back into the limelight by the end. I’m at the point now where I’m resigned to stop trying to make someone else my main, and just go whole hog on my pally from the start.

Why? Most fun. Especially right now. Their rework was amazing. But even then, the very concept of a plate wearing DPS who has a bunch of shields and heals. That’s just completely appealing. You always feel safe jumping into anything because nine times out of ten you can either kill the thing, or at least escape with your life. Plus their spells look super cool.

Never really have a main, but there are always classes and specs that I inevitably go back to, mainly Fury Warrior, Retribution Paladin and BM Hunter, with the occasional WW Monk.

MM Hunter.

I can kill most anything easily. Anything I can’t, I have a pet to tank for me

Elemental Shaman because I love flinging fire and lightning at people, it’s the most pleasing to me from an aesthetic/class fantasy standpoint

I was a guardian/resto druid main from Cata to SL, where I wanted a change. Went hunter, and haven’t looked back.

I wanted to always be super useful, but I think I did my tour of duty.

Mostly the tank specs of druid, pally and warrior as I’m not a very good player and these allow me a lot of “forgiveness” in making bad pulls or not having optimal rotations. I’m open world only so not in a hurry to level so the extra time it takes to burn things down isn’t an issue.

For DPS specs, Aff lock is my favorite as the damage builds slowly enough that the blueberry can easily keep aggro. Just keep the DOTS flowing and everything eventually melts.

I did level Pen here as holy and that worked. Not fast but not much of anything, save one shot mechanics, could kill me. Plus it is fun to buff and help out other players.

In classic Wrath I’m seeing if one can solo level as a prot paladin. I don’t play often so it has taken a couple of months to hit level 42. In small doses it is a fun challenge.

Resto Druid is my main because I retired tanking. Tanking was boring (in Legion and onward), I also don’t like tanking raids and they put all the good tank trinkets in raid, so there’s that, won’t do it.

In WoD BDK was the most complex tank, then they pruned in Legion and BDK turned into like a 2 button spec, it’s atrocious now, I haven’t forgotten.

I main Resto because I like HoTs, proactive gameplay and I like deciding what CD I need to rotate.
Priest and Pally have too many ground abilities, don’t like those. Shaman has totems that I don’t like from maining Sham all of vanilla through Wrath plus Healing Rain which I also don’t like (ground circle abilities are so out dated it isn’t even funny and also are 100% balanced around the raid).
I would like to try a MW Monk one of these days, none of the healers really interest me other than Disc Priest.
I’m not interested enough to have 2 max level healers.

My alt is still BDK though. I gave up on my Rogue.

Class (DH), because I enjoy the playstyle, lore, and animations.
Spec (V), because I really enjoy being able to take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.

I don’t have a “main” I usually max about eight characters per expansion, and the story tells me which ones it will be, regardless of how well their class is doing at the time.

Specs rarely change. This one has been a frost Mage since levelling in Stranglethorn. Also never changes due to FOTM stats.

Been ret since tbc.

Paladins are the main character class and have the best animations, mogs, and lore.

Mained a mage since WotLK and loved it. Always went with the caster class dealing out damage from afar. Just fit with how I wanted to play. Love portals way to much. The class fantasy was just too good not to play. I just got tired of the over complicated playstyle they turned arcane and fire into. sun kings blessing is just not fun for me. so I moved on to my druid for a bit.

went with a feral druid at the tail end of WotLK and kept him as my main alt. Moved him to my main during BFA as that seemed to be a druid centric expansion anyway. I like the class fantasy of being nature bound. I got really into balance and feral. When they changed the eclipse mechanic in DF I bailed. couldn’t stand it.

This expansion I decided to give warlock a try as I like to be able to solo elites when I don’t have decent gear. I kept my lock as my primary alt in shadowlands and really liked it. I just love the dark caster feel now. The demon customization is getting up there now. and the rotation for all the specs is just much easier than an arcane or fire mage to me.

This mage (usually frost but currently arcane). I’ve played this mage since early 2005 (originally as a human).

Frost mage. Sometimes fire.

As for why? My raid needed an AI back in SLs and we still need AI.

My main changes around a lot but currently it’s BDK. Mostly because I just really like my panda DK.

I only play alts since I get bored/annoyed of a class/spec and switch. Or I feel like playing melee or ranged or magic or whatever.

But normally my best geared toon is my hunter since I can solo a lot of stuff and have time to adjust to adds better. I think I soloed parts of a Legion raid in BFA and didn’t even know I was in a raid till after my nephew got the item he wanted and I looked at the map and was like “Are we in a raid?”, lol. All I knew was he needed an item from someplace and I helped him get it.

EDIT: I used to play MM hunter exclusively and old Survival for PvP back before 2012. When I came back in 2017 I switched to BM hunter for some reason and it is now my main hunter spec and one that survives far better than the other two.

Druid.
-Versitile, can play any role (Melee dps, ranged dps, tank, healer)
-Instant mount form for land, air, and water
-Has good offhealing and self healing outside of healer spec
-Has Dreamwalk a teleport to a location that has multiple portals to multiple places across azeroth, and back to your faction capital, all in a 1 minute cooldown
-Fast passive movement speed with cat form and talents and abilities that also increase your speed
-Has stealth
-Spammable AOE with no resource cost and 45 yard range Sunfire great for doing farms or running old quests, dungeons, and raids super quickly
-A bunch of quests in WoW are “pickup/collect items for quest” which will dismount you from your mount, but with druids travel form, it won’t dismount you.
-Battle rez
-Can shapeshift to immediately get out of roots and slows (Huge bonus)
-Can turn into a hulking chad bear
…hmm probably forgetting a bunch of other stuff but you get the idea, druid has a bunch of perks to the class.
