What class has the easiest time farming gold?

My first time playing Vanilla and HC in general, Reddit searches show Mage/Hunter as best gold farm as they can apparently solo certain dungeons and AoE but I assume one mistake will be the death of a very long run if something goes wrong.

With that being said, what’s the safest/easiest class for farming gold?

Hunter, Mage, Lock, Druid, Pala; basically in that order. I would even put Shadow Priests in there if you got some gear.

Not sure why you would recommend mage or hunter, feign resist or a single mob that resists nova will mess up the gold farm for both classes.

Rogue is the safest, you can pickpocket BRD mobs which is slower but you won’t die at all.

Rogues can get auto attacked out of vanish, and vanish can just as easily fail as FD. Rogue farming also requires the rogue have some darn good gear. Once you do have good gear then they can farm decently but its not even close to what I can do with Pala, Priest, Mage, hunter or what I have seen done with lock.

With hunter if you play even half way decent you will never get touched, and can out run any mob. The goal of playing Hunter and Mage is not to get hit in the first place…

This is not true, I have never seen rogues miss a vanish. That’s not even how it works.

I’d trust what Harland says at least 10,000x more than anything you say, as should anyone else. Plus his advice looks correct too.

Oh friend, its 100% true, I have a 60 rogue on era and when farming if something goes wrong; it can and does happen.

Its a client server relationship issue, not a “Resist” game mechanic. This has been a problem for rogue mains for now 20 years.

Here, this is loooong after Vanilla, this is MoP, and vanish / stealth breaks rando man… Vanish has always been a problem, Stealth did not become a problem till very late MoP, but its the same kinds of things… Aura’s like auto attack interacting after execution of vanish.

This is literally Classic WoW and this poor fella, oh man… Vanish fail after fail. Vanish 100% can fail, and it often does.

Hunter is the fastest/easiest/theoretically safest. However, you’ll need to make sure you learn to keep your pet on a leash and stay away from caves and tight spaces entirely.

Do you even play this game bro? I doubt it more every time you post

Exactly lol. I’ve never even played a rogue but if you’ve ever even played near one for the last 2 decades you’ve probably heard them complain about it at least once…

And the only edge one get here is to roll night elf. It helps in that detection mechanic. BUt you will stll get caught.

Vanish also drops on dots. Dots caster npc’s have usually.

Also this is not great money imo. I am forgetting era rates (if even different), wrath rates on pickpocket have you better off killing yellow or less mobs really. Even tbc(c) had you go damn, this wasn’t worth my time at all really.

Keep in mind there’s a 24 hour lockout on dungeons in Hardcore. People can’t farm them all day.

Also tons of the melee mobs have Diseases with DoT ticks… =/

I was not aware of this.

Does it still make Hunter/Mage the best gold farmers or does things change a bit for more open world farming?

Basically yes because you can farm mobs more effectively than any other class; even with mishaps if you are playing smartly you will never die.

And to offset food costs on pet make cooking not optional. In era I deem it mandatory for cooking.

Hunter food made simple for pets.

Cooked is more happiness. and you want the highset level food you can scare up. Meat vendors for meat eating pets has those stacks add up costs real fast.

I am partial sub 20’s to making spider kabobs. Lots of spiders to kill and drop rates aren’t so bad all in all. Spider is the other other white meat lol.

When they’re high loyalty you barely have to feed them. I just buy the cheapest vendor food their level allows. It’s a non issue.

Hunter, rogue, mage, and paladin all have highly effective gold farming methods and various advantages.

Uh mage.

Always mage in classic.

I mean mage can farm gold but its not necessarily the “easiest”. Paladin can run around in SFK pretty effortlessly. Rogue/hunter can farm thorium and black lotuses more easily than others because they can drop aggro. Mages can kite/aoe farm raids and dungeons or whatever but it takes a little skill, especially on hardcore where you can’t mess up your pull.

Yeah safest rogues race is dwarf, so you can remove poisons diseases and bleeds before vanish.
And needs preparation if vanish fail so you can vanish again
