Alright since I don’t want to derail the other topic further I will just start a new one for myself. The issue came up and I am curious to what the rest of the community thinks about this. What major changes to the plot need to occur so you are willing to stay subbed to the game in the long run? Like the Horde is not in a good place at the moment and many people here doubt it can even improve anymore. So just tell me all of your marvelous ideas please?
No thank you.
I’ll save my ideas for people who don’t fail to grasp the very basics of the game’s setting and lore. People who do not wish to only see the Horde as villains.
So no thank you.
The current situation is bad everyone can agree here. I made this OP to see if anyone has some brilliant ideas to make it better.
If there’s one thing that the forum lacks entirely is ‘brilliant ideas.’
If you want the Horde to have relevancy Blizzard needs to define what the Horde is again.
Either by going back to the basics with their War3-Vanilla portrayal or by creating something entirely new.
Regardless, some sense for their continued existence needs to be given and Horde characters need to evolve beyond one-note stereotypes of their respective races.
Cool.
That changes nothing about my response.
TWW is almost over really, so we might spill the beans now before it stops being a chance to change it before the release next year.
Nothing major is going to be changed about Midnight. The ground/framework for the expansion is likely already set in stone by now
Giving up is not something I do. A topic big enough catches the attention of the dev team. That is how we got high elves.
The dev team never looks at the forums.
That’s a good thing though, most of the rhetoric here is narrative poison.
A few minor customizations is not the same thing as changing major story beats for an expansion, especially not when the major story beats are likely set in stone already.
How about not beating the Horde into the ground even further? That would be a good start. The death of Gallywix made me pessimistic. It seems they are not done with killing even more Horde related NPCs.
You are clearly so uninvested in the Horde that you still haven’t noticed the length and number of threads discussing the problems with the Horde.
Or the fact that all those discussions produced nothing positive for the horde yet
Reboot the lore to the Pre-Chronicles era, draw upon the lore as presented in WC3, the RPGs, and vanilla WoW, and BUILD upon that foundation rather than retconning it over and over again. Try again with characters like Ner’zhul, Kael’thas, Jaina, Sylvanas, Moira, Garrosh, and many more whose characters were assassinated or otherwise ruined.
A full reboot might be too late now.
Is it? Or is it just late enough? The story is ruined beyond repair. At the very least, I can safely say that a huge portion of the community hates the story.
Type “world of warcraft writing” into google and see what the results show. Google will suggest “world of warcraft writing bad”
I have no solutions for you I just pray it isn’t getting even worse next expansion.
They might do classic+ with high elves or so I’ve heard, so it’s not impossible. I think totally developing a new WoW game with brand new lore/story running parallel to the current one is a little bit of a stretch though. As much as I’d love to see the blood elves keep their weirdness from TBC in the long run (rather than just be Horde High Elves as they are now), it seems like a lot to have them plan out a proper AU game.
Actually classic+ has limited options only. They cover everything that happened BEFORE the first expansion launched. That is how I read the survey.
They do. Never participate, but do keep tabs on. Reclaiming Lordaeron pretty much confirms that for me.
