What can we do to fix hunter defensives?

Do we get another charge of Deter? Maybe give us readiness like we had in the past for two deters + two disengage? Buff SotF to 60% for 6s… or how about 40% for 10s? Maybe give RoS a flat 15% or 20% damage reduction? Double the healer done by Exhilaration and reduce its CD? Make Exhil unaffected by MS or dampening? Make turtle better?

Let’s get creative! I’d very much like to not die after stacking multiple CDs.

Edit: Just wanted to add what prompted this so there is some perspective.

Imgur

This is a ret with CDs up and an arms warrior. I pre used SotF going into stormbolt. Already had RoS up. Came out of CC and popped Exhilaration. RoS is still up when I die. So two stacked CDs and our only heal and I still got chunked from 55% in .9s. I had just used Exhilaration a second earlier.

Something has to give. I don’t want to be a tank, but at least let me live with my CDs up. :frowning:

Bring spirit bond back and make spirit mend like it used to be.

Maybe allow us to specialize our pet again too.

By buffing damage, cause apparently Blizzard follows “the best defense is a good offense” motto when it comes to hunter.

And when it makes them completely obnoxious to fight in Battlegrounds? Ah, well, tough break.

That would be a good one.

Should have never been taken out. Pets are far less interesting these days.

Always felt good to me when hunter was squishy but hard to hit. So maybe gutting other melee mobility and letting hunter dominate casters or something.

But realistically i think the spirit mend thing sounds good.

This is why no one cares to listen to hunters about their melee problem because people clearly see they dominate casters but they complain about melee trains so they can try and dominate melee too.

Everyone deserves counters. Buffing your defenses for melee literally would make you even more godly against casters (because it’ll probably involve not being able to be rooted/snared for longer durations and have sprint so you can outrun melee but also ride casters when they LoS. If the defensives are strictly physical damage reduction only thats different.

But honestly, when its a melee train comp and one hunter in solo. The way it is now completely evens the odds when hunters go straight for the caster but melee is riding them the entire fight so they can’t stand there obliterating the caster.

Add the survival tactics buff to turtle and call it a day

I think the issue is that PvE is driving the changes in mobility. =/

That said, it’s almost impossible to make distance when you have a dk plus any other melee. You’re more using mobility to get out of immediate damage, rather than actually making distance. So I might save disengage for FoF, Bladestorm, etc.

Mobility does need to get looked at, but it also feels like any mobility balancing in PvP is always looked at from the vantage point of mages. Like Arcane right now is laughable.

Maybe in bgs.

I’m gonna have an arrow with your knee on it!

Could probably start with Aspect of the Cheetah not being a 3min cd, and Survival of the Fittest at baseline 3min or whatever.

nerfing melee uptime is the only way or giving them a physical damage reduction somewhere.

they’re pretty good vs casters and are rarely a good target due to how strong and frequent feign is.

Problem is, hunter is stuck in the middle. If uptime was nerfed for the sake of hunters, mages would be forever out of reach. I’d be fine with mages having better defensives while melee are in range at a cost of mobility.

I’d say give hunters another disengage, but I can’t imagine that’s fun for melee. Let them have their uptime, but let me having something to counter their goes when I can’t make distance.

Hunter needs more defensive cd fix huh

how about +30% damage to sniper shot and aimed shot

Give SV Sniper Shot.

ya mages need nerfs too.

melee and mages eclipse everyone else in terms of mobility. majority of “melee” deal a lot of their dmg with range spells.

then after that garbage is nerfed, we can finally remove precog which was basically created as a response to how broken melee uptime has become.

I know hunters wear Mail armor, but it doesn’t really feel like we’re slightly more tanky and taking less physical damage compared to cloth-wearing DPS. In fact, I’d even go so far to claim that cloth-wearing DPS might be better at dealing with getting trained by melee DPS.

Maybe there could be more physical damage reduction for hunters?

Yep. There are two designs to melee right now that I think do well. DK and Ret are basically ranged at this point and WW and DH are completely front loaded. So they only need small windows to dump damage after making contact. Warriors are the only melee that really need consistent uptime todo well and that… just doesn’t really fit any longer.

I don’t like the game being balanced around mage/warrior mobility. Mages should be able to stand in melee without having to burn through everything. Wouldn’t be bad to help mages out in BGs some where hunters dominate.

hrm. Dunno. Rather our existing CDs get pumped up or we have some tools to deal directly with melee damage.

I laid out a 3 step plan to fix Hunter defensives a couple of weeks ago, but here it is again:

Step 1. Auto turtle at 35%
Step 2. Two charges of turtle
Step 3. Buff survival mastery healing by 500% in PvP (this ones only for the SV chads)

This will restore Hunters to their rightful place as Rogue and Mage killers and bring balance to the Classes once again. It’s been far too long where a Rogue has seen a class on their Gladius frames and wanted to afk out of the game like the rest of us. Viva la Hunters!

probably massive nerfing rapid fire would be a good start
