Casual BG player here, having lots of fun in PVP at the moment. Might seem like a strange question but I can’t really find anything worth-while to do in the open world anymore. In the past I always just found some niche way of farming gold while waiting for ques to pop but this expansion I can’t find anything
Anyone have any suggestions what might be fun to do in the open world as solo content? playing on oceanic servers. Cheers
Tons of open world content in Dragonflight but not if you just want mindless gold farming that doesn’t matter if you’re pulled away in the middle of unless you like gathering professions.
Is that what you’re looking for, or something more?
There’s always a pvp world quests that’s a free for all mode somewhere that you can go farm for bloody tokens and honor.
As for gold. You could just go scorched earth and pick up mining/herbalism and leather working. Murdering everything in your path to skin and harvest whatever is in your way. Sell on bulk in auction house.
Someone mentioned tackle boxes. I’d also bring shovels
If this character you are posting on is the character you are playing, you can get gear upgrades from any of the community events.
Emerald Dream is where the the current top open world gear comes from, but blues still drop from all the older events. Just look for horns on the map.
I’m currently on a renown binge across alts … but that’s sort of a personal pet project I enjoy without any real purpose to it.
After that (if I actually ever finish), my next priorities in the world will be KP for gathering professions on alts, fishing for coins and collecting some of the many achievements I haven’t done in the world. There’s also lots of gold out there. However I’m expecting to run out of time and have new content drop before I get far into this.
For casual farming there’s still some gold that can be made from gathering, but prices are in the end-of-expansion spiral give or take a blip from many people crafting legendaries suddenly. People will also likely be grateful if you could cut the price of trallstrider sinew a bit.
Gold and Racing world quests.
Then you can focus on profession and AH flipping for more gold.
If you’re bored, go back to SL, BfA, Legion and do the Gold WQs there.
If you’re somehow done, try to farm a cool looking transmog.
You can also go further back and do dailies.
This really isn’t the game to have fun in open world anymore unless you go to classic. It’s dead and lonely and depressing. Maybe that’s your thing, but considering you love PvP I assume you like player interaction.
Races, Photog quests, climbing quests, and I think there’s one other “non-combat” style quest. All of which only take like 2 mins (can be done WELL before a queue pops), and all are worth a comparatively HUGE sum of gold. Just doing Races is 8k a week PER ALT!
There are 2 events at the top of every hour (trivial gold rewards, 50g), and the new Dig at the :30 of every hour (trivial gold, 50g).
There is always something to do, just not sure what your actual gold goals are. I’m not sure any of it will fund a Token per month.
I guess Tackle boxes can, if you get lucky with recipes. 95% of the time, you’ll get the ones that are barely worth 500g (compared to rare ones worth 20k+).
ehh not in my experience. When I was still actively farming the boxes for fish (for the Achv), I was collecting HUNDREDS of boxes at a time. And even in that sample, there would be 0 recipes.
I’d have to hit MULTIPLE spawns of boxes, hundreds UPON HUNDREDS of boxes, just to get 1 recipe. And like I said, 95%+ chance it’s useless.
So you’re now talking THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of boxes… hoping for that one that’s worth a damn.
You MIGHT get one every 3 months. For what amounts to a ridiculous waste of time. It’s faster to simply farm the boxes for the incidental money, and then just BUY the pattern. lol Because it seems trivial, but it adds up QUICK. Just make sure you have like 50 empty pack slots! lol!
