Baldurs gate 3 dropped recently and people have praised it. I havent played but watched allot of interactions on stream. interactions like voting for which option to chose or what path to go down or even who to kill.
what do you think wow team can take away from baldurs gate 3?
my hopes is maybe interactive NPC leveling alongside our characters and us choosing to kill, romance, or befriend ( or betray ) some of them; interactable through outdoor camping sites.
I donāt think you can compare an MMO like WoW to an RPG like BG3. WoW requires a sort of shared world and shared storytelling that makes it difficult to reconcile different players choices unless you make those choices meaningless which then just feels bad. Remember the Horde players who chose to support Sylvanas and those who chose to rebel against her? That was, technically, a big and meaningful choice that meant nothing to the overall story.
If we are given an NPCās story to go through, if Blizzard ever wants to use them again, then theyāll have to make a canon version of that character and invalidate a large number of playersā personal interactions with that character.
I think WoW can really improve their writing but you cannot make the same decisions as you would for BG3.
I was going to say something along the lines of the āromance optionā sells but⦠letās just go with the whole DnD aspect. Iād of simplified what I meant but I think that word is outlawed here for all i know
Be passionate about what youāre developing and respect the fans and their attachment to an IP. Thatās the best thing any developer should take away from Baldurās Gate 3.
help this brain creature out
help this brain creature out after actually skill checking medical skill (gets possibly better results)
jsut kill it right now.
BG3 intro Story still goes on regardless.
In this little bit in the intro you jsut decide how you get a companion for the next few minutes.
Orā¦no companion at all since you failed the rolls. Or you killed it.
Same intro I ran twice. I still get off that ship. One I had a brain companion. the otherā¦I didnāt. I failed dex check to āfixā it to be more compliant. It was not happy, and ran away.
This is what RPG means to some. Also how you make it harder for those who say wow is easy. tick off NPCāsā¦game gets harder.
I suppose it helps that BG3ās devs didnāt try to add exact duplicates of races with gimmicks. Maybe thatās something Blizzard should think about.
Yes. Iām still miffed Void Elves have no lore, no presence, no nothing really. Also, Lightforged Draenei and Mechagnomes are literally the same race with 110% as much as their main raceās gimmick.
I played some BG3 (like all turn based games I play stages so I finished the tutorial stage so break time!)
The two games genre wise arenāt comparable, but, what they can take away is some of the customization options present, mainly voice picking.
I would love to have higher or lower pitches for my characterās voice instead of the same hum drum voice pitch. Some characters I would like to make more androgynous compared to other characters in my roster. In Balderās gate, my character is Androgynous due to being able to have that voice selector / identity selector.
I gotta play more of it. Itās got a massive learning curve to it because I um⦠I havenāt played DND or even looked at it in a while so the dice and rolls and everything is taking a while to get used to.
Reminding me of the original Fallout though so thatās fun where the original Fallout was point and click, stats and chances at failing or succeeding etc.
I think romancing NPCs in a game is weird in a game about combat.
Like, does Madden or FIFA need a mini game where, instead of practicing set plays, you try to court Tom Brady to come out of retirement? Does Peyton Manning in a cowboy hat start a love war with your top wide receiver?
