I finally got it! A true triumph from years of collecting and there’s still so many more to get! Simple Armory saved the day with the last handful.
Curious to how many others also have it. I’ve only seen maybe 2 or 3 others on my server with it.
Hoping they add another new collection achievement with the new expansion. Still been waiting on one for mounts. Anyone know anything?

Wowhead samples, as always, are skewed towards people who do more in the game, so we can be pretty sure that that is higher than the true percentage among the full population, but whether the true number is more lilke 1% or 2% is anybody’s guess.
I would expect a new achievement next expansion. There are 1719 total species in the game now, so I’m sure we’ll break the 1800!

Specifically for Moon Guard, WarcraftPets shows at least 17 players out of 105 users have 1600+ unique pets. If inactive users are included, that bumps it up to at least 26 players out of 2,383. And that’s just registered WCP users, there are for sure lots of avid collectors (yay 
)

Yes, congratulations are due, that’s a heck of an achievement! This game truly has a stupendous number of unique pets to collect, and many require so much time and effort. Not many people have that achievement, or the pet it rewards, Violet Violence! Be proud!
Congrats …I got couple weeks ago…its a dang lot of work for sure to get 1600 different pets…as for mounts I am waiting too…I hit 500 in Shadowlands…now I am sitting at 665 right now…
I finally hit the reknown in Emerald Dream that allowed me to buy Juniper and Spruce today. And I still have to acquire more of that stupid currency that looks like flowers to buy two more pets, then I’ll be done with Emerald Dream.
But as I was looking, and seeing all the things that still weren’t available to me, I got to thinking, I feel sorry for mount collectors. Mounts are twice or more the cost of our pets, and apparently, it requires higher reknown, too.
I personally couldn’t care less about mounts. Although I did recently see a flying broomstick. And I thought, “If I had that mount, I’d never use another.”
But for the most part, collecting mounts just does not interest me in the least.
Yeah its double duty for both collectors of mounts and pets of some factions…all though the mounts and pets of ED can be gotten from planting seeds all around usually the blue seed can yield a battle pet and purple seed a mount…not always though …there is a chance for it too happen…
I just checked and while I haven’t purchased all the pets from the vendors in ED, I have all of them, thanks to the seeds.
The only pet I’m missing from ED is that stupid pet who only spawns in four places. He’s worse than Unborn Val’kyr!
Which one is that? I do not remember any of them being particularly hard to find when I completed the Safari achievement.

However, I don’t have anywhere near the currency required to buy them, so I guess this pet is going to be a hard pass. At least for next year or so.
A year seems excessive.
You can collect that currency at the rate of about 100 per 30-60 minutes.
The Dreamsurge Coalescence isn’t really that bad a grind currently. Work on it during busy times, can usually join in on the Rares with bunch of other players. Can often get some BoE gear drops while doing it that can be passed onto alts.
You shouldn’t delay too much if you really want the Pale Slumbertooth. When the Essence of the Storm Event was first added I hated it and trying to farm its currency. Now hardly anybody does it and the bosses are brutal to try to solo multiple times. So unless the Time-Lost Vorquin Foal shows up on the Trading Post some day I’ve resigned myself to never being able to have that pet.
EDIT: Sort of the expected outcome but out of curiosity just had to test. If you group with a friend while you have the Friendsurge toy active but they don’t, you can interact with the Slumbertooth while guy right next to you can’t even see it.

As for the Essence of the Storm Event, yes, it isn’t really doable now, but will be soloable by next expansion. Consider it a frustrating delay, not something that prevents you from ever getting it.
It’s not that. It’s just that I’m thinking of taking some time off. But unfortunately, I can’t do that just yet, because I haven’t gotten the exchange for my Shiny Pet Charms. If they take away my Shiny and just mail me the Polished, it will disappear after a month.
I also hate to take time off, because as I’m discovering with Shadowlands, taking time off is brutal. I still don’t have all the pets I want and it looks like I’ll have to be joining every Covenant to get the ones I don’t have.
It also kind of sucks that I missed out on Shadowlands during the heyday, because I might have been able to contribute a strat or two to the Family Exorcist strat. I’m not much of a pet battler strategist, but I did create the most popular Critter Battle against Kwint in Boralus Harbor. (“It’s not so bad down here.”)
It’s nice to have that little accomplishment. Some called it a “work of art.” And others have insisted, “It’s a broken strat!” “It doesn’t work!” “It’s too RNG dependent!”
Guess I can’t please everybody.
