I still have my original Carrot On A Stick from vanilla. I was organizing my bank (again) last night and saw it and was all “awwwwwww”.
yes I know you weren’t talking about that carrot on a stick.
Professions.
Like using only stuff created by you.
Sounds dumb.
I heard zulgurub to be the most cool dungeon ever, so i want to try it. But im a newbie.
I’m most excited for the hard work. Having to think about things. Not just a quick creation and if I don’t like my face, I can go to the barber and fix it. Even my heirlooms don’t require thought because they adjust depending on my class.
Looting everything. Absolutely. everything. Because at first, every single copper matters. Looking forward to being excited about white or heck even grey items because they’re an upgrade!
I’m looking forward to those heart thudding moments when you walk into a contested area and the music changes. “Bloody Hell. I need repairs. Can I make it to a vendor? oh crap oh crap oh crap!”
I can’t wait. But wait I will. 82 days. 7 hours. 10 minutes.
No LFR/LFD
People being held accountable for their actions by the community
Being involved in the community again
Little things like randomly buffing complete strangers/being randomly buffed by complete strangers.
Grouping up in the world at large with randoms and making new friends
I could go on but you get the idea lol
NOT looking forward to walking for 40 levels though
Every day will be leg day! Silver linings my Paladin friend, silver linings!
All of it.
I grouped up with randoms all the time. It was fun and also made sense so you weren’t fighting over mobs.
I guess everyone’s experiences varied, who knew…
WPVP, and getting iconic pieces of gear while leveling up…like emberstone staff or illusionary rod.
When you got those pieces of gear you were jumping for joy! can’t wait to do that again!
This is one of the things I’m looking forward to also. And a few of the quest lines that no longer exist (or I suppose they don’t it’s been awhile since I’ve leveled a character from scratch in retail). Battles in Hillsbrad between Tarren Mill and Southshore.
for gameplay: battlegrounds, wpvp, ganking and pvp in general.
Most importantly, I am excited to feel connected to my character again. In vanilla, i main’d a priest and through the ups and downs (holy nova lol, shield changes etc…) , I felt very connected to the character. I invested time in so many aspects and it really felt like it was my creation and my adventure. I think as wow progressed, by wotlk the identity of the game just evaporated for me. I try from time to time to play retail but it feels like too much of it is empty. Leveling doesn’t feel rewarding, the loot grind is meaningless to me, and i just don’t feel any sort of attachment to my characters. I am looking forward to starting on an even playing field, the slow grind, the adventure, the chat, and hopefully the new friends i meet on the journey.
I started late BC so I never experienced the true vanilla experience. That being said, the game was loads different even then than it is now.
I remember on my NE hunter when I was new and trying to save enough gold to buy a white 2H sword from the weapons merchant and was so happy when I finally saved enough
I had skinning and herbalism and was vendoring EVERYTHING!
I didn’t know about the AH until some random guy grouped with me for some questing. He mentioned having to go to the AH and I was like “what’s that?” That was the moment my WoW life changed
I can’t like this part of your post enough. This is probably the single most important part of the classic WoW experience.
I remember certain people on my realm being blacklisted for their shoddy behavior. It wasn’t a bad thing.
Everything because it all matters.
The level you get, the professions you have, the gear you get, and the adventures that a wait in WPvP servers.
Just means chat will be spammed with LFG and LFM. Good thing is that the world will finally feel bigger, consistenly.
Fat chance. This is still the internet.
“Community.” lol
That will be nice, yes.
Maybe. Depends on what you’re doing out in the world.
Better roll Paladin, Shaman, Mage or Druid.
To me, the whole point of Classic is community. No LFR, no LFD, no group finder … if you want to do something you are going to have to interact with the other humans.
People talking to each other again. I used to spend extra time levelling in Barrens just because the chat was so fun.
Things mattering from day one. Nothing in retail matters, it’s a waste of time to mess with anything until you reach end-game.
I never played on a pvp server. Not that great at pvp, though willing to try. It’s more…what’s the appeal of getting oneshot by rogues 20 levels higher in the middle of questing? I could see once you have a guild with a few 60’s in it it could be a team thing, but other than that?
The one major pvp thing I’d really like to accomplish would be to stomp Camp Mojache in Feralas to the ground. I kept accidentally riding in there on the way to Dire Maul and being dead before I realized what was wrong, then not being able to get my corpse without dying two more times. It’s right in the middle of the main road, so…
I was giving commentary updates to a friend about the stress test. “I walked to Darnasus to train staves because the grey drop was an upgrade”. He replies “LOL walk, LOL train weapon skills”. The novelty of the world didn’t wear off in the first 10 levels. Killing random mobs was actually good experience and the vendor train was good money. Journey before destination, friend.
I’m gonna run to TB and click on Cairne.
