I read on wowhead someone commenting said Covenant Gear cannot be socketed, using Spatial Alignment Apparatus. Can anyone confirm that? What gear will this work on. Apparently it works on Legendaries.
I think items with multiple effects (set bonuses in Covenant gear case) can’t be socketed, probably due to the way they are coded. The BFA legendary cloak was similar, had multiple effects and couldn’t be further enhanced with the glider kit.
Legendaries only have 1 effect, so the add-on socket just occupies an empty effect slot.
So if you are right, then it might not work with Raid, Mythic, pvp or Covenant gear since they have multiple stats? Or are you just talking about special abilities. I think I need more clarification. The "Set bonus " with Covenant might be a reason, but that is a disappointment if that can’t be done,
Haven’t seen any raid/m+ gear that has multiple effects. I don’t mean multiple stats, I mean multiple effects like the BFA cloak had the immunity, it had the passive buff, and the sanity loss reduction. That’s 3 effects occupying 3 distinct SpellID slots on a single piece of gear.
Similarly, the Covenant gear has to have multiple SpellID slots even if you’re not wearing enough pieces to enable those bonuses, but they’re already coded to occupy certain abilities, so you can’t just add another like the socket.
Keep in mind the sockets are also limited in their use – only helm, neck, bracers, belt, or ring.
That makes sense, but is disappointing. So If one wants to keep the appearances of their covenant gear then one has to get other armor that can be socketed and transmogrified to still look like the covenant set, but that would remove the set bonus, wouldn’t it.
