So I did a 120 boost and am hammering out the world quests and war campaign to get into the Rogue groove. I can already tell that the skill set to be a top parser/player is quite evident (as opposed to like Hunter).
So would some of you be so kind to tell me your key binds for those of you out there that are high parsers/M+ or whatever (you know what I mean).
All of mine right now are default so obviously it’s a little clunky having to strafe with mouse right click while pushing D or A and still push buttons to do damage. I seem to be reaching with fingers more than I think I should be.
Anyway, hopefully a few of you will be feeling helpful today

Get a naga, scimitar, or logitech whatever it’s called (a 12 button mouse) and use
1-12
Shift 1-12
Alt 1-12
and now you have 36 keybinds while never having to move either hand to a weird position or lose 100% control of movement and camera.
I only ever press Tab, Caps lock (voice button for discord), shift, alt, wasd, and spacebar on left hand. Right hand does all keybinds. Playing with a mixture of mouse + wasd to move.
Also, I don’t use any default abilities. I turned almost every single ability into a macro that can be used as a mouseover and without a mouseover target defaults to my current target.

First question is do you have a mouse with buttons on the side?
I have my shadowstep as 1, kick 2, sap 3, kidney 4 cheap 5. all with modifier to hit my focus target with alt.
I also have a lot of weird macros for my dps skills like shift q ect.

Second bar is bound to my Naga Trinity buttons. 7 of them on the side with a few shift modifiers for not so critical things like mount, eat. Etc.
And sometime I just click the easy on critical spells.
Ahh yes. Forgot to say I have the Logitech mouse with like 12 buttons on the side. Just hard to find them quickly because they are so close together.

Anyone use GSE Macros? Gnome Sequencer. It’s an approved add/on and seems to be pretty amazing. In one macro you can set up multiple action buttons/keys. So like if you hit the GSE once it does x, hit it again and it does Y. Hit again it does Z etc. So one GSE can Elessentially do unlimited actions.
Learn to play without it. Sometimes you need those skills now and not after another button. It will improve your play.
Marcos are dependent on what you want them for. I like them just for focus targets.
You get used to it very quickly.
Logitech tilts the rows so you can feel what row you are on. Corsair has alternating smooth and textured rows. It’s very easy to get used to.
So I get what you guys are doing here.
Question I have is, what are all your movement keys? Forward, back, turn, strafe etc ?
What I am struggling with, and maybe everyone does, is to keep moving while effectively doing dps and able to use necessary key presses for skills/attacks.
Really what you need to do is figure out what you are doing specifically, like are you a PVP guy or a PVE guy or do both?
You need to layout your abilities in a way that is very easy to use, so that you are never tied up for space, and able to execute all abilities when needed without any kind of strange button conflicts.
Many players have different size hands, fingers, and so on, some dont even have all their fingers and so not every layout is going to be optimal for you.
You can start by adding your basic rotational damage abilities in a sensible location where you can repeatably execute your rotation.
Then add in your CC and utility abilites into places that do not conflict with your rotation or other offensive and defensive abilities like CC and cooldowns.
Be willing to rework your layout and reprogram your mind to accept the new layout. You will need to put quite a lot of time into practicing the layout before you are going to be proficient with it, but practice makes perfect, and a good layout can really help your skill set improve a lot!

I just went through rebinding for my rouge since through the years my bars ended up pretty frankenstein looking lol. Using a scimitar mouse i decided to move all my standard/rotational abilities to mouse. All of my cd’s and defensives are on keyboard. I bound 1 through = to mouse keys. As an example my sin opener is 212E53551ef
Garrote > Rupture > Garrote > Vendetta > Mutilate > Crimson Tempest > Mutilate till 6 combo points > Rupture > Exsanguinate > Blood of the Enemy
One of the most famous rogues of all time played with his hands down at zxc. So what I’m getting at is use what bindings are comfortable for you. So if that means being ‘unorothodox’ then do that.
If your bindings aren’t comfortable, absolutely change them. But don’t copy other people IMO, figure out what suits you best.
That being said, I think it’s good to take inspiration. Ex: What buttons are more convenient? What buttons are less? for me R and C are some of my easiest / fastest bindings to hit. So for me they’re Vanish, and Kick respectively.
Another big thing for how you keybind is how you macro. And how efficiently you make use of your bindings / bars. Bar swapping isn’t as big of a deal now that dance isn’t on it’s own bar, but it taught a lot of us some lessons in keybinding back in the day that translates well for efficiency today.

Mine are pretty basic.
Strafe left is A, move forward is W, strafe right is D.
S is Sap
Q is Vendetta
E is Shadowstep
V is interrupt
F is Major Essence ability
G is Vanish
Stealth, Rupture, Kidneyshot, MfD, and Feint are all on my mouse, utilizing wheel up/down for the latter two, wheel-click for stealth.
1 is garrote
2 is mutilate
3 is envenom
4 is toxic blade
The idea for me is that there is no key I can’t reach while strafing. So whether I’m holding/tapping A or D, I have immediate access to all of my abilities.
I also use R, T, H, J, B, N, and then anything past that I will use Shift + key
Really interested in the 12-button mouses though. That would be a game changer.
