What are your honest thoughts and feelings about the current state of how the devs are handling PvP balance?

I honestly think the specs are fairly balanced right now (July 4th, 2023; patch 10.1). I have no idea how it will feel next week in 10.1.5.

Yeah, they were 100% too slow on the MMR thing, I dunno why they screwed that up. But spec balance is pretty fair from what I see, even with some performing vaguely better and vaguely worse.

Go look at the Resto Shaman tier set and then you tell me. It’s all but useless. There’s no way they actually give af about PVP

It seems like it has potential. :dracthyr_shrug: Although maybe crafted gear is just better because infinite mastery.

they buff/nerf 2 hard

they forget some specs 2 often

other than that… i give them kudos for actually doing tuning this xpac.

It’s probably the best they can do, with what resources they have.

But from my casual 2100-2400 rating PoV, it still feels like comp, class, spec, “meta” whatever, dictates too much of the game.

  • Wanna 2v2? Better be a Druid/Hunter or Disc/Rogue!

  • Wanna 3v3? Better be boomie/spriest + 1

  • Wanna SS? Not on an Hpal or Hpriest, lol.

And its not to say you can’t play other things, it’s just that the effort =/= reward.

Play a Ret Paladin at 1800 vs a Demo lock and you’re sweating.
Play a BM Hunter at 1800 vs a Demo lock and its free rating.

The disparity of tools (utility) vs output is still pretty crazy.

Like others have said, they are better than they have been in other expacs but that isn’t saying much.

They’ve definitely been switching back to their hands off, no communication approach again.

Still amazing we have outliers like SP, moonkin, lock and they barely get touched.

Nevermind the ret fiasco last season. They really dropped the ball there.

HPriest is good in Shuffle though…

I just want to understand their logic behind why Feral was the only hybrid in the game that didn’t get to have their 50% healing buff to their core healing spell (in this case Regrowth) applied in to them in PvP when every other spec in the game did. The ability does almost nothing in PvP now on an already squishy melee.

id say think in ttk not time to shine, work on balancing around that etc.

trying to balance is one of the hardest aspects of pvp. whether u do too much, too little, nobody is going to be happy, in my mind, using dampening as a way to get the desired ttk is no go as far as healer enjoyment could ever go.
