Psychedelic Sunday.
I do love Panic! at the Disco. Brendonâs got such a great, unique voice.
I also love the fact that they departed from their usual style and made an album that oozes Beatles from every seam, without straight up copying the Beatles. Itâs hippy dippy Panic!
Thatâd be Pretty Odd, and my favorite toon tune (I play this game way too much) off that one:
A lesser favorite, but only just so (and way more âBeatle-ishâ):
IMO the lyrics to this one, at least the lyrical style, is reminiscent of Beatles tunes like âCome Togetherâ, or âMean Mr. Musard/Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Windowâ. Excellent stuff.
Check them out
Come save me from walking off a window sill
Or Iâll sleep in the rain
Donât you remember when I was a bird
And you were a map?
And now he drags down miles in America
Briefcase in hand
The stove is creeping up his spine again
Canât get enough trash
He took the days for pageant
Became as mad as rabbits
With bushels of bad habits
And who could ask for any more?
Yeah, who could have more?
His arms were the branches of a Christmas tree
Preached the devil in the belfry
He checked in to learn his clothes had been thieved
At the train station
The rope hung his other branch
And at the end was a dog called Bambi
Who was chewing on his parliaments
When he tried to save the calendar business
He tried to save the calendar business
He took the days for pageant
And became as mad as rabbits
With bushels of bad habits
Who could ask for any more?
Who could have more?
The poor son of a humble chimney sweep
Fell to a cheap crowd
So stay asleep and put on that cursive type
You know we live in a toy
You know that Paul Cates
Bought himself a trumpet from the Salvation Army
But there ainât no sunshine in his song
We must reinvent love, reinvent love
Reinvent love
He took the days for pageant
And became as mad as rabbits
With bushels of bad habits
[Who could ask for any more?
Yeah, who could have more?
We must reinvent love
Reinvent love
Reinvent love
because iâm on a gw2 nostalgia trip

I was gonna post an Eddie Amador house track I was listening to, butâŠ
Waking up to Floyd. This is good.
Probably my all-time favorite song from them:
I tend to gravitate towards their earlier/trippier stuff:
Syd was a mad genius. I feel quite sad when I think about his life.
If anyone doesnât know, he (Syd Barrett) was an original member of Floyd. He wrote the tunes and was lead vocalist. Unfortunately, he lost his mind, primarily to ridiculously excessive drug use. One day, the other members simply didnât pick him up for a gig. And that was that.
Sad thing is, he âshadowedâ them for basically the rest of his life, showing up at gigs and other events. One day he made it into the studio when they were recording (incidentally, I believe they were recording tracks off âWish You Were Hereâ - which is about Syd), and the other band members literally didnât recognize him anymore, given his strange disheveled appearance.
Lament for Syd became a running theme in Pink Floydâs future endeavors.
âI want to tell you a story, 'bout a little man, if I can,â
Go on Syd!
Hereâs a solo piece of his⊠one of my faves⊠and you can still hear the genius, but it feels - âfracturedâ. The lyrics have - at times - become nonsense instead of poetry. He doesnât really care if he messes up the take.
And yet⊠itâs amazing.
âIâm tryyyyying to find youâŠâ is haunting. And beautiful.
Had to work a little later than normal today, but I got to see a really amazing sunset on my way out. Seriously beautiful stuff. Looked like a Bob Ross painting.
And this was the first song I listened to on the drive back.
Iâm still debating if I like this or not. The last song Gorillaz put out didnât really tickle my fancy. This one is more âI only remember it more because singing to it is pretty simpleâ Most of it is just saying the word DĂ©solĂ©
Then thereâs the usual Gorillaz struggle of ânew song so what in the heck is 2D saying?â Since Damon Albarn can be a bit mushy when he sings. So having him sound mushy in a language that isnât english is just DIFFICULT.
Seriously they could at least put subtitles on or something. I still canât tell if 2D is saying âdesole contrevantâ or âcontrabandâ
Heâs saying âDĂ©solĂ©, dĂ©solĂ©, quand tu mens,â
(âSorry, sorry when you lie,â)
Below are the complete lyrics from Lyrics Genius. I spend a fair amount of time hanging around that site, reading up on lyrics or offering my own take on interpretation. Iâd recommend it over any other lyrics site, bar none, simply because of the community involvement. And there is a ton of that.

See I checked Genius Lyrics and it totally didnât say that.
I do wish Gorillaz would have subtitles for their new songs.
