I do love Panic! at the Disco. Brendon’s got such a great, unique voice.

I also love the fact that they departed from their usual style and made an album that oozes Beatles from every seam, without straight up copying the Beatles. It’s hippy dippy Panic!

That’d be Pretty Odd, and my favorite ~~toon~~ tune (I play this game way too much) off that one:

A lesser favorite, but only just so (and way more “Beatle-ish”):

IMO the lyrics to this one, at least the lyrical style, is reminiscent of Beatles tunes like “Come Together”, or “Mean Mr. Musard/Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window”. Excellent stuff.

I was gonna post an Eddie Amador house track I was listening to, but…

Waking up to Floyd. This is good.

Probably my all-time favorite song from them:

I tend to gravitate towards their earlier/trippier stuff:

Syd was a mad genius. I feel quite sad when I think about his life.

If anyone doesn’t know, he (Syd Barrett) was an original member of Floyd. He wrote the tunes and was lead vocalist. Unfortunately, he lost his mind, primarily to ridiculously excessive drug use. One day, the other members simply didn’t pick him up for a gig. And that was that.

Sad thing is, he “shadowed” them for basically the rest of his life, showing up at gigs and other events. One day he made it into the studio when they were recording (incidentally, I believe they were recording tracks off “Wish You Were Here” - which is about Syd), and the other band members literally didn’t recognize him anymore, given his strange disheveled appearance.

Lament for Syd became a running theme in Pink Floyd’s future endeavors.

“I want to tell you a story, 'bout a little man, if I can,”

Here’s a solo piece of his… one of my faves… and you can still hear the genius, but it feels - “fractured”. The lyrics have - at times - become nonsense instead of poetry. He doesn’t really care if he messes up the take.

And yet… it’s amazing.

“I’m tryyyyying to find you…” is haunting. And beautiful.

Had to work a little later than normal today, but I got to see a really amazing sunset on my way out. Seriously beautiful stuff. Looked like a Bob Ross painting.

And this was the first song I listened to on the drive back.

I’m still debating if I like this or not. The last song Gorillaz put out didn’t really tickle my fancy. This one is more “I only remember it more because singing to it is pretty simple” Most of it is just saying the word Désolé

Then there’s the usual Gorillaz struggle of “new song so what in the heck is 2D saying?” Since Damon Albarn can be a bit mushy when he sings. So having him sound mushy in a language that isn’t english is just DIFFICULT.

Seriously they could at least put subtitles on or something. I still can’t tell if 2D is saying “desole contrevant” or “contraband”
