What are you listening to now? V5 (Part 1)

Creepy show but very atmospheric tracks in general. Sometimes Iā€™ll put in on while I do some work because itā€™s calming.

I had to do a quick skip, it was Stephen Bishop - On and On. A much better song came up.

While typing, this came up. Older songs are so short.

I work in a lab and I have over 4000 songs on my phone I listen to on random play. Itā€™s easier to take out music you wouldnā€™t want to play at work as opposed to Spotify which people stopped listening to because itā€™d throw in inappropriate songs.

Anyway, my 1st rotation after Olivia Newton John died and she kept coming up on random play. I assume itā€™s some kind of confirmation bias or maybe the algorithm for random play on my phone isnā€™t so random but a couple of people mentioned it. Usually people just drop off samples but a couple of the instruments are used by other groups, the 2 main users are into thrash metal and alt metal so I pretended I added her songs as an homage but they were there all along.

This came up while typing, it seemed an appropriate add for Olivia (EDIT: This is the CD I have from them, I highly recommend it).

I love The Carpenters. Music these days doesnā€™t hold a candle to the older stuff. Itā€™s like itā€™s just made for the moment. It wonā€™t be remembered. Well, thatā€™s not true I guess. There are some diamonds in the rough that will.

Hereā€™s a nice story for you. On my way to werk each day I stop at a little cafe that opens at 5am. Itā€™s run by a Korean family and they make the best food and coffee. The husband loves the old movies like Breakfast At Tiffanys, The African Queen etc. And over the walls he has a variety of old movie posters from back in the day.

Last weekend I had to replace the floorboards in one of my bedrooms so I had to remove everything from that room. So I went thru all the cupboards and and cleared out all the crap and I saw two old poster boards I had. One was Casablanca and the other was Gone With The Wind.

I donā€™t need them so the next time I went in I gave them to him. The look on his face was priceless. I donā€™t even know what Iā€™m trying to say. He hasnā€™t put them up yet because heā€™s waiting for the xmas holidays to repaint the store. But it was just nice to see someone else appreciate the older things.

Music existed a long time before the rock era, I like all of it but have some issues with auto-tune. Just an older guy, I guess, first listened to music pre-digital.

This was just on when I read your post, seems an appropriate add.

I do listen to songs from this millennium, just not a lot post 2010. This is whatā€™s on right now.

EDIT: Something for the season. Iā€™ll stop.
