What are you gonna do if the next expack fail like BFA or is worse and WoW shutdown?

I think if wow got shut down entirely, I’d probably quit playing MMO’s, I’ve tried multiple and just speaking from a fluid mechanical feeling, they all feel pretty janky to me. Little things bother me too, how a lot of characters in these games jump with a very stiff motion, for example, legs out in front of them like they’re riding a chair through the air.

Magic feels like a secondary system, flooded with in game immersion breaking advertisements about how much more I could enjoy their game with their “premium currency”. Very “meh” music and a camera that has the fluid motion of tapioca pudding.

I’ve been waiting for a “wow killer” for years, just to enjoy something even more and that feels great. Alas, a lot of other games just feel choppy, even looking at a video of the jobs for final fantasy I wasn’t really enthused with the graphics.

I know everyone really loves the customization slider and to do whatever they want with characters, but with world building, there’s something to be said about how wide that scope goes. Being facetious I made my hunter in monster hunter world, look like terry crews but with huge pink pig tails and booty shorts. That was my fault, but still. I see other MMO’s where people can customize themselves to a similar degree and it just makes the world feel less immersive the more costumes and silly objects you add.

Not that people can’t look super silly in wow, I saw a guy who looked like a luchador running around in Drustvar, but even that, against the scale of the world didn’t make them pop out like they didn’t belong.

This is all personal opinion of course, but I can’t find another online MMO that I enjoy playing as much as wow, whether it’s retail or classic. Which, with classic, I’m really surprised no one has caught up to yet. But playing it reminds me of how much further behind the rest of the MMO market is, it’s crazy.

Not playing FFXIV, I have tried playing that game on three different occasions and it has never stuck with me for more than a couple of days.

Do like we always do, complain about everything we hate, say how wow is dying and keep playing waiting for the next xpac and start the cycle over. If wow dies then I will have more time for ESO.

As lomg as you can keep reducing work force until the game breaks even on a bare minimum…and blizzard exists, wow will exist in some form.

Funcom has kept anarchy online alive, just for company historical pride or w/e and i doublt more than $100 a month is generated there. Probably one guy keeps it going.

Warcraft 3 is still going and i doubt its making any money.

Wow will survive somewhere somehow.

While I still hate the story in BfA I’ll probably actually be playing day one of the next expansion for one reason. If my friend is still around playing. He looks to me for ideas when it comes to his stories, so being up on the current game is handy and something we often talk about. The next expansion is way off and Blizz could really screw things up with the story, so we shall see.

You mean like a WoW Government Shutdown? Yeah, that would suck, man.

Go back to my Steam, GoG, and PS4 backlogs and work through them, maybe even older consoles if I can find them and they still work, tbh. Current computer may not be able keep up with WoW’s next expansion as it is, so I highly doubt I’ll be playing FFXIV or even ESO, at least for a while. And I have many, many older games in Steam and GoG to finish up or start, so graphics aren’t as much of an issue – and sometimes having some weird hoops to jump through on Steam’s side to make games stable (like KotOR working just fine in fullscreen mode but otherwise won’t have sound in windowed mode, or having to have DR V3’s anti-aliasing on so it wouldn’t crash in chapter 1), but I digress.

On the other hand, if it does manage to play the next expac tolerably, it honestly depends on what you mean by worse. If I can’t solo old raids/dungeons anymore for pets/mounts/etc, and none of the classes I play are fun, regardless of specs, then I’ll skip it and wait it out til the next one comes out. Maybe play a month per patch or if they do free weekends to take a little gander at what I’m missing and see if it entices me back, though the expac history post-Cata, imo, says that the next expansion will be at least okay if not good. :woman_shrugging: Time will tell, of course.

Uh…

Everquest wasn’t released until 1999, not to mention graphics processors wouldn’t of been able to handle a 3D rendered game in the 1980’s.

Doom is considered one of the first “3D” games ever created, which released in 1993, and it was actually just a clever use of 2D (“2-1/2-D”) and pre-rendered panels with clever shading sewn together. It wasn’t until the Unreal Engine was created in 1998 that we saw the first true “3D” game engine that rendered the game in real time.

Not sure what your going on about im still haveing a blast in 8.2 and got zero plans to go to Classic wow as well.

I will do that same thing I did for BFA, play the new content a bit and unsub. Tokens are cheap, heck 15 bucks is extremely generous as well.

If ppl want to grind like crazy chasing an ever moving Goalpost by all means let them. Their money, their time , their businesses and its better that way

Legion was average. WoD was abysmal. BfA is bad.

The trend is to just not release good expansions anymore.

I’ll honestly be surprised if WoW shuts down in my lifetime.

I already have my ESO account on standby.

Blizzard can milk the die hards for decades and still have plenty of profit. and WoW is not the only egg in their basket.

i wont play it. im leaving BFA for borderlands 3 in a few weeks

if the next expansion is good i will play it though

the only thing that will mess up the next expansion wo;; be the level squish you know they are going to screw that up some how.

or if they put another ap grind in the next expansion people are really tired of it its been 4 years of ap grinding.

Play a different game. Maybe run a 5e campaign. Resume Gloomhaven? Or have a SF miniatures-game battle royal with my kids. Endless options.

just not play

I have no shortage of other amazing games to play

wow these days seems to have no concept of competing for my time. They seem to design around the idea that we won’t leave regardless of how tedious it has become, that tedious grinds are never the true reason for a person quitting.

WoW does not properly value and reward my time these days.

That’s so stupid. You made it to ilevel 435 in BFA not having fun? If youre not having fun, you shouldnt be here.
