What are they gonna do after Phase 6?

First, I couldn’t be more hype about this classic project. I can’t even play BFA anymore and I’m just waiting for classics servers.

I love how they’ll start with nothing and eventually add more raids and patch. Phase 6 is the end with Naxx. I know it will be in many months after the start, but once phase 6 is up, what is the next plan?

Do they reset Vanilla to phase 1? (Kinda like saisons in Diablo)
Do we stay in phase 6 forever?
Do we upgrade to Burning Crusade? (And potentially loosing everyone who wanted the Vanilla experience)
Stay in phase 6 with a few patch here and there?

What do you guys think?

Hopefully nothing. Vanilla with upgrades is not Classic.

This is a museum piece. It’ll be there in that state for…as long as there’s a WoW.

Maybe set up a server or two with seasons / resets while maintaining most in ‘forever’ status

TBC or classic enhanced edition… or just restart another phase 1 server batch.

We have no idea. If Classic isn’t a total train wreck, I think we’re quite likely to see BC servers.

THEY don’t have to do anything… If you’re looking for a future content plan, you won’t find one here. Just a lot of “I wish” or “I hope.”

Before 1.14, create some fresh realms and allow character copies, these realms will forever stay in 1.13

I know there is nothing to talk about while we wait, but IMO people should worry about this when they are sitting around in full Tier 3 with no goals left. Very, very few players were able to get to that point in vanilla. More will likely do so this time around, but it will take most of them a couple of years.

Might take you a few years. I’m going to go to Naxx and ask the bosses nicely to give me tier 3. You know, appeal to their better nature.

Are you expecting players to come back to vanilla WOW and properly invest in that game, or just have a look around for nostalgia’s sake?

J. Allen Brack: Both, I think. One of the things we do know is that by announcing this, we’re in the WOW Classic business forever. Once that starts, there’s a commitment on our end that we’re going to continue maintaining those servers for as long as there is a World of Warcraft.

Classic servers will exist for as long as there’s a WoW.
