Nothing. Just like they’re doing nothing between now and when Shadowlands launches in dec 2020.

Absolutely nothing.

They’d only consider doing something if they thought it was a problem. I can tell you with 100% certainty they do not care whatsoever.

next they’ll probably incentivize just playing on the alliance side… i mean, why not? “here is some extra stuff for being outnumbered in WM!” will turn into “here is some extra stuff for playing alliance!”

in reality all they’d have to do is get off their weird high-horse and allow crossfaction grouping (at least in instances) as well as lose the faction-tag on mobs.

Most likely nothing, they are okay with the Alliance dying out.

There shouldn’t be any bonuses for playing War Mode whatsoever, world PvP is the bonus.

You sound kind of jealous.

Edit: Forums hate me.

Is it a problem, yes. Will they do anything, no. This is acti-blizz we’re talking about.

What exactly are the devs supposed to do?

It’s obvious to me that there is a segment of the Alliance population that will never be satisfied with what the devs do. Short of annihilating the Horde and turning Kalimdor into one giant Night Elf nature preserve, there will always be players complaining of Horde bias.

So, what would you like them to do?

That’s the question. To get the snowball back up the hill they’d have to do something drastic that would likely exacerbate the problem where all the high end guild went alliance making the horde under represented, which would be just as bad. Maybe let the alliance be the “bad guys” for an expansion or two. Would help level things out without making the same problem the other way. Just spit balling here.

The faction divide is dumb and antiquated at this point. It only has “value” because Blizz is lazy, and doesn’t want to address issues related to core design. Yes WoW was built around the faction divide, but bisecting your playerbase will continue to cause more and more problems. Blizz has already proven that they’re pretty awful at writing faction conflict, as that was the weakest least satisfying element of BFA, and their only solution to population imbalances is lazy bandaid incentives. So as many have stated above, Blizz will continue to do nothing about it.

The way the cinematic were in BfA maybe they are trying to move away from it. I just watched the ones up until 8.2.5 and they sure seemed to suggest it. Tyrande(?) excluded of course.

Many of us thought that too until Ian was asked directly about it at Blizzcon, and he said the faction divide has “value”.

Didn’t see that. Thanks for the information.

Here’s the actual Q/A

Q: With the faction war settling down, would you consider loosening faction restrictions on grouping with friends?

A: I understand you want to play with the opposite faction and it would be easier for you, but mechanically, it is a pillar of what makes Warcraft Warcraft. That division has value, although we do want to look for ways for you to play with lots of people. However, formal cross-faction play is not in the cards.

Solutions are more of a development decision.

Community perception isn’t a Blizzard problem. This is a :sheep: problem.

Unfortunately this is a community problem, not a Blizzard problem. They can’t FORCE people who want to play horde to play ally, just as much as they can’t force the opposite. Any reason or incentive to play ally is from my understanding the reason there’s an imbalance right now as it is, because horde had more helpful racials in raiding so a lot of top end guilds transferred over then they balanced those out and there really wasn’t a reason to move back to alliance.
