What are "The Rings"?

Illgynoth says to us “your coming was fortold in the rings, the long cycle is nearly complete.”

Then the Winter Queen says this after the Ardenweald fight, “Your deeds this day will be remembered in the rings.”

It’s clear that the rings may mean the rings of a tree, a trees rings keep track of it’s age as well as any significant happenings during the trees lifetime. It may be refering to a great tree in Ardenweald. Was this suggesting that the Old Gods are connected to Ardenweald somehow?

“The long cycle” sounds like how they described the slumbering of Gods in Ardenweald. There’s something else that’s a bit strange. Danuser said that the Emerald Nightmare was a natural part of Ardenweald. I’m interesting to see how this all fits together.

Tree rings, I think it was. Idk how or the significance of the connection there, but it’s definitely referring to tree rings.

Would it be the big tree in Ardenweald? The heart tree?

Or some kind of record of fate kept somewhere in the Shadowlands?

Keep in mind that Illgynoth says this while plugged directly into a special tree within the Emerald Dream. One could extrapolate that maybe there was some connection established through the Void to Ardenweald’s trees(the Void is very slippery compared to the other powers, they seem to breach other planes more easily than other powers).

Though, it could be unrelated to actual trees. The system of fate could be ring-like in nature. If any power would know, it would be the Void. The Lords spend all of their time poring over vision after vision of the “thousand truths”, and as such deal with the concept of fate more often than other powers do.
