i see a LOT of builds with these ribbon cables and they come in different colors and i think some even have RBG? it hooks up to i believe the GPU and then somewhere else as well i usually see about 2 of them in a build.
it looks like they hook up to the power slots or something the other hooks into the mobo right next to the ram which if i believe correctly is the power right?
They are sleeved PSU cables. They can either be custom designed for your specific PSU and used in place of the original modular cables, or extensions that connect to the original PSU cables to add customization for appearance.
Be aware that if you get the extensions, you will want to get the same gauge wire as the original cables because it will change the electrical properties of their operation and that can be bad.
Most people say if you really want the custom look, get the ones specifically made for your PSU instead of extensions. They will be the correct gauge.
you think they are worth it?
i mean just for building purposes not really say “looks” i plan to go for a mostly all black build. they do look nice but this is just a personal build dont even plan to show off my PC or anything plus blacked. maybe easier for cable management idk?
Impossible to determine, really. If you like how they look, then yeah. If you don’t care about how they look, then no. They don’t have any functional use (well maybe extensions if your case is huge and they don’t reach…but that’s a…reach)
quick question. are they pretty easy to change out i mean if i use the one my components come with/the psu?
i recently tried to remove the cable from my psu and the mobo in my dead comp ( this was last week try to see if i could fix it magically ) it was stuck on there REALLY good didn’t want to break it so i just left it as is.
other then that though i like how they look but not really a show piece tower so i can go either way plus budget wise it aint a huge issue for me atm.
Just use the ones that come with it imo.
They aren’t too bad to take on/off, but the 24pin ATX can be a pain sometimes
RGB is like Gaming chairs only the chair will get more use out of.
I turned off the RGB lights on my PC shortly after building it up.
PC lighting is kind of fun, I have all mine set at a static color though because I like red.
I also skipped gaming chairs, I’m using an Autonomous MyoChair instead.
I enjoy the lighting surprisingly. I remember when fancy was what amounted to a colored fluorescent light and a small clear window lol.
