What are the point of Heroic dungeons in retail?

Seems like they are only relevant for a couple of weeks into a new expac, then you are better off just doing M0 once you have a little gear. Once you are a little bit into the season you’ll have all the carries you can handle with M2

That’s the joke they don’t. Especially if they don’t have unique mog.

And it should stay that way to keep content for people. Keep m0 and m+ limited to groups made without queues.

Hell, in this expansion, they weren’t even good for getting gear when it started, I’d still question their use now. Aside from knocking out some quests and getting a lewt bag as tank or heals.

Gear between normal and mythic

Should just get rid of M0, make heroic dungeons a little harder with better gear drops and call it a day.

Right now? Messing around with different talents and builds in an environment that target dummies can’t provide

Yeah, I started in Cata and “content inflation” seems to be as bad as ilevel inflation. Maybe a similar reset is needed?

We went from “Wow, heroics are hard!” watercooler to each and every expansion undermining the role of heroic dungeons even being remotely relevant even for catch-up. Like giving a vendor 250 anima is probably pretty close to doing an heroic dungeon, it’s completely nonsensical, lol.

This is the sort of “casual content” that the game doesn’t need. It needs heroic dungeons balanced more like M0s on launch.

Heroic dungeons are an intermediate step between normal and mythic. They are relevant even right now, for people who are learning the game, for people gearing alts. The 4 difficulty dungeon layout is designed as an on ramp. Normals introduce you to the core concept of instanced PVE but without lethal mechanics. Heroics introduce the first layers of mechanics. Mythic introduce the full mechanics. Mythic+ lets you take those fully enabled instances and increase the difficulty in steps, up to whatever the maximum that current equipment can deal with. There’s not really a good way to reduce that back down to 3 difficulties without creating gaps that a lot of people will fall into.

I really miss when you could queue up for a heroic dungeon and you actually had to work together as a team to complete it, even if it was the end of the expansion it still was never just one to two people essentially soloing the whole thing while everyone else tries to keep up. The ilvl disparity is way too out of control, it’s made heroic dungeons completely pointless and silly.

they can actually be good training grounds if you ask me…

i’ll be spending lots of time in them on my dragonkin :100:

Eh early on they serve some purpose until catch up mechanics appear. Like even now, the heroic gear is higher than the 226 anima catch up and the 246 relic stuff, no?

Before that heroics were one of the few ways to fill the gap for alts.

Also gives tanks and heals a nice free lump of gold for carrying heroics via the satchel.

Or maybe people aren’t keyboard turners that click spells these days?

Like even in classic they get rolled. Even for heroic+, while everyone is still in tier 7 (where people can’t out ilvl the content).

More like what’s the point of m+ … normal and heroic dungeons were always a stepping stone to greater content like pvp or raiding. But to many casuals and non-skilled players can’t do that. So they created m+ and in theory it makes sense! But it’s been a loot trough for casual players and now if they threaten to change it a lot of folks would be angry. So blizz really shot themselves in the foot

Some ppl learn new specs, classes, roles. Some people just enjoy its laid back pace and dont want to do harder dungeons. Some people don’t chase gear. There are many ways to play this game.

Heroic exists because some people are too… “whatever they are” to learn to make friends and so they need an “endgame” where the game itself can match them with people who will play with them regardless.

I think the game would be better off if we got rid of queued content outside of rated PvP but Blizzard is a money-making business and caters to players who don’t play WoW correctly as their money is “as good as” anyone else’s money.

Thinking the way you want to play is the correct way is about the only incorrect thing you can do in WoW

Yea this is what I think should happen. Basically make M0’s the new queueable Heroic. Current heroics serve little purpose.

I am going to be honest if you are learning and doing nothing with said knowledge. You really wasted your time. Like akin to reading a guide to build your own gnu/linux distro but not actually going through to make one. You invested an enormous amount of time reading to understand the concepts but have nothing to show for it.

I remember in Shadowlands early days.

I farmed my Memories and basic conduits on Heroic becoz many stupid players were wiping on Mythic0 or M+.

Thats the reason why there is Heroic before Mythic0. Players not even completed Normal going straight to M+ back then just to wipe over and over. I just laugh at them.

After getting all the memories and conduits i needed, i went straight to M+3 and up avoiding M+0 were most noobs were wiping. ROFL.

There are plenty of correct ways to play WoW. There’s also many incorrect ways to play WoW.

WoW is a game best played where you are willing to make friends with other players and don’t cut yourself off from your humanity. The incorrect way to play WoW is to believe you should never interact with others. You don’t have to raid, but the idea that you should avoid any sort of social contact is simply wrong.
