What Are the Origins of Your Character Name?

I saw an article on reddit that talked about the origins of usernames so I thought I’d start an article for us to talk about the origin of our character names

My character name is Legend because I’ve been around a long time and obtained some ultra rare stuff like my Silent Glider, Zinrohk, Destroyer of Worlds, Scythe of the Unmaker, the Chronos Weapon Enchant illusion, and much more. Also I’m working on getting the “of the Alliance” title soon so that I can be Legend of the Alliance.

Whats the story behind how your character came to have its name?

I wanted something like Hellscream and came up with Warsnarl. It’s as simple as that. Kind of like a cousin to Hellscream if you will.

EDIT: Use to be Doomaxe but I thought it wasn’t original enough so deleted that character and remade him into Warsnarl

I was reading one of my MTG books with Kamahl in it and thought why not an Orc Kamahl. I just used an alternate version of Orc with Ork.

EDIT: Can also be interpreted as Ork 'em All, lol.

My favorite manga is Rurouni Kenshin, or “Samurai X” for us westerners.

The edition in my country always came in with a section at the end dedicated to explaining the little cultural things mentioned in the chapters included in the volume, along with the historical references used to ensure readers could keep up as well as a japanese reader.

It was thanks to that that I learned that this one character Kamatari Honjou, a scythe wielder, had an attack called “Midare Benten” which translated into “Chaotic Benten Godess”… Chaotic seemed fitting (Midare) so I’ve been using that for years prior to WoW and when I started playing, it only seemed natural to use it.

I asked a buddy what can druids do in WoW.

“They can be Cats, they tank, and uh, stuff…”

Cat, tank, uh…
Okies got it.

Tinkerrific is Tinker+ Terrific and is also a variation of my first wow character’s name: Tinkerizmo (a female gnome mage)

Tinkerizmo was a combination of 2 Disney character names: Tinker(belle) and Gizmo. Tinker seemed appropriate for a Gnome and so did Gizmo. Although I thought that Gizmo was the name of the super smart girl mouse from Chip-n-Dale’s Rescue Rangers cartoon (super smart girl mage gnome roughly equivalent to super smart female mouse) but her name is actually Gadget. Gizmo was the name of Gizmoduck, who isn’t that smart actually (he didn’t invent his super mech suit, just “found” it). Wump Wump Wump

Random name generator… but not for this game!

My druid in Neverwinter Nights had this name first, once upon a long time ago.

I haven’t had a story behind a toon name in like a decade. Now I use the in game random generator till I see something I like or can alter in a way I like. Oh except Mooscles … this one is obvious imho

Mine is based on a comic book writer and a comic book character mixed together.

Ghozar the Ghozarian, Ghozar the Destructor, Volgus Zildrohar, the Traveler has come.

…except Gozer was taken already :slightly_frowning_face::man_shrugging:t3:

Anyway, I thought it was fitting for a Warrior.

My name also comes from Rurouni Kenshin.

Seta Sojiro fighting style was called Tenken, aka Heaven Sword.

More often then not Tenken was already taken, so I altered it to Tenkin as my nickname for a long time. Pali seems the perfect fit for the name Heaven Sword.

Towns in the region I live in. Old forum name was a different town as well.

Figure they’re probably named after someone who did something significant at some point. Also, location sent automatically if anyone wants hands.
