The Ethereals stole the Dark Heart and obviously she’d have a vested interest in retrieving it, do you think we could be coming up to an alliance of convenience where it’s obvious she’s planning to stab us in the back and take it, but we have to play along anyway to stop their plans?
Blizzard has already set up our alliance with dubious Ethereals though Alleria’s mysterious benefactors.
It’s very hard to imagine what pitch Xal could make that would put us into something resembling an “alliance,” even a tenuous one.
At most I can imagine her sorta… pointing us at the Ethereals, but it would be a purely one-sided affair. It wouldn’t be a deal or a bargain, just her dropping some info on us.
If K’aresh is the 11.2 zone, then perhaps Xal’atath will open the way to K’aresh knowing that we would come into conflict with Phase-Thief Azir and his ethereals. That way she uses us to thwart Azir’s plans, while giving her the opportunity to get the Dark Heart back as the fight between us the ethereals spreads.
I’m hoping they make Xalatath a more interesting character than just the Harbinger. I’d like an “Azeroth isn’t yours to conquer” type who has her own designs on the planet separate from the Void Lords.
Definitely not some secret anti-hero but a lesser-of-two-evils it might be wise to side with on occasion.
She started out as a Lovecraftian weapon that was the doom of empires but that’s exactly what you want when fighting the Legion. Hopefully she maintains that character.
I did consider that. I think it depends on what the Ethereals plan to do with the Dark Heart. She’s the resident expert on it with Gallywix dead. If they do have a plan in motion with immediate, potentially cosmic, consequences, I could easily see her going “it would be a shame if something happened to Azeroth, maybe we should work together” to get us to comply.
Especially if the Ethereals are planning to summon something like Dimensius with it.
Honestly I want to ally with Xal not because I think it would be the best way for the story to go forward, but instead to see the look on Alleria’s face when she realises she’s gonna have to play nice with Xal for a while.
God it would be so f*ing funny.
I partly want to because we rarely get to chit-chat with our villains and flesh them out with more personality than the extent of their evil plan. Xal seems like she’s in a perfect position to do it.
Details aside - whether it’s to Karesh, or the center of Azeroth, or some where else - this seems like the most likely thing to me.
Xalatath makes an offer to make a portal some where that only she can make, because she needs us to go somewhere. And we need to go there, too, with no other way to get there in time.
That would be how I see us working together.
Probably not for very long, before she says our usefulness has come to an end.
isnt it weird xala is a void elf
She isn’t.
She’s an unknown identity that was trapped within a blade that is now currently possessing the dead body of a high elf.
As much as I’m looking forward to visiting K’aresh, I’m kind of disappointed that the whole xpac being centered around inside of Azeroth, the final patch may be going to a different planet entirely…
There’s so many elements of TWW that haven’t really been answered or fleshed out that I feel could have led to so much more:
- Beledar (what purpose does it serve?)
- The Undersea (so much potential here)
- Haranir (rootlands?)
Maybe blizzard will surprise us and incorporate all of these elements into the subsequent xpacs of the world soul saga. It would certainly make the whole saga feel more cohesive that way!
Well its a trilogy story, so we still have time for that. I’d like to have those questions answered as well, but I’m not holding my breath.
If K’aresh is 11.2, then I wonder if it could come with the Rootlands. Like how 8.2 brought us Nazjatar and Mechagon.
Unless we go 11.1.7 as the Rootlands, then 11.2 as K’aresh.
That’s a good point!
She serves the Void so she is tenious on bringing the end of reality for her masters.
I think Azshara should be something of an anti-hero we occasionally join forces with.
I just think she’s neat.
My opinion - almost zero. I think it’s more likely Xal just points us in the Ethereals’ direction, like the manipulator she is, and uses it as a distraction while she furthers her own plan.
If K’aresh still has a Worldsoul, their plan could be to rehome it in Azeroth.
that sounds extremely stupid, so it’s probably pretty likely
