Slim to none? My sub expires soon and I think a fresh non-HC era server is the only thing that would bring me back.

Not in the near term, mate. At least not while sod is running, so id say abother 12 months minimum.
I will be extremely disappointed if we see a fresh HC server before a BC or Wrath server
I absolutely love hardcore and will say as it stands now would never play it again with Blizzard’s settings, lack of hardware support for servers, or appeals.
There is a priv server who can’t be named that has shown me such an incredibly better HC experience-
- No instant fall damage death (max hp loss is 80%)
- HC implemented in the same server as the rest of the population
- And most importantly, an option to opt out of HC at 60 to enjoy end game
It puts theirs so far to shame I have no interest in blizz HC

With how much I would enjoy it, I’m pretty sure a fresh Vanilla server would kill a large portion of the SoD player count, so likely if any time they would do it after SoD runs its course.
In the fourth quarter, a brand new Puls era will be released. In August, the Chinese agent said this
I don’t know. I don’t know why they don’t do a regular cadence ladder, like release a new fresh Classic every year or two years that finishes, and feeds back into non-ladder Era (or maybe into progression Classic).
I would have thought so before, but I don’t really think these are the same playerbases. SoD seems to be aiming towards being an introduction gateway to Classic for Retail players.
I’ve definitely seen posts about these, but I’d be curious if Blizzard even ever acknowledges that there has been some people asking about them.
Is there some rule that you cannot mention private servers, like Whitemane or Ascension WoW by name?

I think there’s a fair chance that if they release a fresh HC - they will release a regular fresh soon after.
I could be way off, but having played on HC servers and Era, it seems to me that very few people - basically nobody - wants a fresh hardcore server. People actually want to consolidate the current hardcore servers because it is really hard to make pug groups at the higher levels. Fresh self found server is a bit diff as there is demand for that.
The situation seems that blizzard & streamers believe that a fresh hardcore + duel tourney will generate enough hype to fill a fresh hardcore server? Personally I feel like its DoA and it will be kinda embarrassing if there are under 1000 active players on the server after a few weeks.
If that happens, you may get a regular Era fresh pretty quick as they try to help people forget about that blunder.

Hardcore was a great concept and fun to run through but we just had this last year and the servers are still open. There is no real reason to have a fresh hardcore server again.
We haven’t had a fresh regular server without any gimmicks for over 5 years now.

Part of me believes they are purposely avoiding an era fresh on purpose and I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because of sod I have no idea.
All I know is I’m not playing a hardcore fresh if it’s just that by itself. Now if they launch a fresh along side it I still won’t play the HC server so I’m not sure what the plan is. It seems kinda dumb to just launch a HC fresh when people have been asking for era/tbc fresh for literally ever. It’ll only be popular for a month anyways

Same, and even if I was craving to play hardcore, I would probably play on the existing servers not the fresh one.

When I heard the rumor, I was seriously confused. Why does HC need a fresh? I understand people might be upset about players hoarding twinking materials to level alts, but HC is such a solo experience in a lot of ways, it doesn’t make sense to me.

The only reason I can maybe put a case together is if the server is a “SSF” server with like no mail/ah or something like that.
But I have my doubts it will be bigger than the HC last year. SSF is definitely a niche within a niche. Like I had gotten 3 toons to 60 and personally I don’t really care to do it again “but more inconvenient” so I’m not gonna play it.
Now if they were to allow you to transfer to a fresh server after death then sure I’ll load in and die to the first level 1 boar I see. But no normal server? No shot this server will hold like last year did
I died at level 27 and quit. I am clearly not hardcore. Ain’t no way I was wasting that time again lol

I mean two of my deaths were DC related. One where my power went out, another where I DCed and fell off a flight path and my 3rd still alive but haven’t played him since doing 1 mc

None. Classic fresh servers are on a 2yr cycle
2019 → Classic
2021 → Season of Mastery
2023 → Season of Discovery
I would have preferred once every year but they made it clear that they’re using classic to fill in the years that don’t have retail expansions. So it is what it is.
Just curious - why is that important to you?
HC people don’t interact with non-HC people… they can’t trade, use the AH, or group for quests. What’s the point of being on the same server?
I played SoM when HC was on the same server and it was brutal. They’d decline group invites and steal your tags constantly. It was impossible to get kill quests done. They’d camp quest mobs endlessly. Even to their own detriment, they wouldn’t share tags. It was anti-social and weird.
It got so toxic some even followed regular players around trying to steal their tags on every pull even if they didn’t need the mobs just to grief them. The AH died because they weren’t contributing to the economy, and as the server became known as the “HC” server, most regular players re-rolled or transferred to avoid them. Regular players got so fed up, it became a mini-game to try and train mobs onto HC players to try and kill them.
It was toxic as hell on both sides.
Classic 2019, Era and SoM were the only ones worth playing. SoD is not even related, that disappointment just needs to die.

I’m having more fun on SoD than Era 
GDKP has made Era inaccessible for anyone who doesn’t live and breathe WoW. I can play an alt on SoD and actually get gear with limited investment.

LOL I would say its done exactly the opposite. I see more Naxx loot now than any other; makes my R14 gear look rare.
