We may still get Amani sometime this coming expansion? I feel that originally the plan was Haranir were supposed to be released in War Within and we were supposed to get Amani and Ethereals this expansion but there was direction changes during development.
I think the number you are looking for is Zero.
Your suspicion was sentiment. This was never their intention.
I think there is at least a possibility.
I have a huge copium style feeling that we’ll see the Azuremyst Isle also updated during this expansion and the Broken or Furbolg becoming a big thing in that area and then near the end of the Expansion the Amani join the Horde and the Broken or Furbolg join the Alliance. >.>
Hopefully high. It’s about time we get a good Allied Race. Amani would be great, I’d finally play a Troll.
You’re odd.
You know what you will get? You will get housing.
Expect nothing else.
ZERO! this is blizzard we r talking about, they don’t do thing the player want.
I’d say we actually have a pretty high chance. The new model is obviously using the Orc model so this would be Blizz preparing them as an allied race. Since allied races just reuse existing playable models to save time
High Elves would use the Velf and Belf model. Ethereals would use a human or Belf model (based on the transmog). Just because it looks like a chicken doesn’t mean they are adding roosters
Aren’t you just reinforcing the fact that reused models means future allied races?
No, I am re-enforcing the fact that Blizzard adds races when they feel like it.
High Elves - Could have been added in TBC and Legion (and Midnight)
Ethereals - Could have been added in TBC and Shadowlands (and TWW)
Ogres - Could have been added in Classic, TBC, Cata, WoD, etc
Arakoa - Could have been added in TBC, WoD, etc
Dracthyr - never saw it coming
Earthen - never saw it coming
Haranir - never saw it coming
At best… Darkspear Trolls get new barbershop options via a quest just like unlocking the Manari stuff for Draenei.
They were lol. High elves are Blood Elves
Would have made no sense because the reason Belfs and Draenei got added was to give Alliance Shamans and Horde Paladins. A shaman or Paladin Ethereal would have made no sense. Plus Ethereals would not work with how gear works. Gear is painted over the skin so an Ethereal in full gear would look very out of place
Ogres don’t share any playable models and they are far too big to not look extremely goofy in most of the gear Blizz releases.
Again a gearing problem. They would have to make Arakkoa gear be similar to Dracthyr with minimal gear showing, which majority of the playerbase hate
Since the new Amani model obviously uses an Orc they will look like fine with the current gear
It seems like you’re leaving a lot of races off from your list for some reason. Draenei and Blood Elves were obviously going to be added in BC. Pandaren were obviously going to be added in MoP. If you didn’t see something like Dracthyr coming in a Dragon expansion, you must need glasses.
I don’t know why people keep saying this. It obviously will not work.
Manari worked for Eredar because the overwhelming majority of Manari use the same exact model as Draenei. The differences between the two are quite literally skin deep.
That doesn’t hold up for Forest Trolls and Jungle Trolls. We’ve seen since BC (Though you could make a case for WCIII) that the Forest Trolls are a lot more “bulky” than their Jungle Troll cousins. “The Troll Compendium” notes that Forest Trolls derive their color, in part, from the moss growing on their bodies. BC didn’t show this, but subsequent Forest Trolls do (Kazra’jin, Midnight Screenshots).
Further, Forest Troll Females and Jungle Troll Females don’t even share the same model or skeleton. The jury’s still out on what skeleton the male Amani use (though I think Troll Male Skeleton checks out more than orc), but the females explicitly use the female Orc rig. This is not something that can be handled through the barbershop with a few skin options and maybe Dracthyr “bulk” size being thrown at players as a pittance.
And frankly, why are people so eager to make the Man’ari-Draenei parallel anyway? Have we all just forgotten about Zandalari Trolls-Trolls, Mag’har Orcs-Orcs, Dark Iron Dwarves-Dwarves, Gnomes-Mechagnomes. Frankly, given the way Kul Tirans were characterized in every iteration of the game prior to BfA, one could argue that any Kul Tiran cosmetic options should’ve just been given to Humans through the Barbershop.
This just doesn’t make sense, and I don’t know why players are so eager to “let Blizzard off the hook.” Literal defeatist mindset.
I don’t think Ogres would really be bigger offenders here than Tauren. Most “Ogre Size” arguments fall sort of flat.
The Goddess of Gambling would say there is a non-zero chance.
And yet somehow they still won’t be added
We’re lucky we got housing. From all that is happening with Blizzard and especially with Microsoft…I’ll be shocked that Midnight rolls out without more than normal broken stuff and am concerned if they survive as a company. They’ve been doing badly with other sections in their company (RIP Bungie) and they’re getting ready to lay off quite a lot of people…
Nice to be optimistic but…/shrug.
I left a bunch off the list that haven’t been added yet because if I kept going, it would’ve been three pages worth of notations. Hozen, Jinyu, Mogu, Sethrak, Tuskaar, Saberon, Kyrian, Quilboar, Naga, Centaur, Dryad, Vrykul, Val’Kyr, Murlocs, Gorlocs, Oracles, Wolvar, Venthyr, Dracnoids, Taunka, Furbolgs, Broken Draenei, Frostborn Dwarves, Kobolds, Yaungol, Mantid. I mean, I could keep going if you like but something tells me my point was made. There are more than 150 different races in this game and we get like 25 of them. Not every race needs to be added as playable and at some point they need to just start making skins for the existing races rather than adding brand new ones.
I’d say chances are pretty good, but I would not expect it to be soon if it occurs in Midnight at all. Blizzard’s typical “no” response is “we have no plans for that, but it is something we would like to do in the future.” They are already adding Amani customization options to existing trolls.
The fact that Amani are built with existing player models (trolls/orcs) means the rigging for equipment is already there, so making it playable involves less legwork.
It’s…not impossible, but I wouldn’t bet on it. The Amani traditionally have been portrayed as a turbo-hostile troll faction. There’s a lot of really bad blood between the Amani and (checks notes) pretty much everyone else. They were briefly aligned with the Orcs but only out of convenience to wage war on the elves.
