What are the arguments against Dracthyr Shaman and Druids?

My argument for Dracthyr Shaman would be as follows:

At least, as I understand it, Dragons are aspects of nature/life which includes the elements to some degree, with Blue have Cold Breath weapon attacks in addition to managing the Arcane Energy of Azeroth, Red having Fire Breath Weapon attacks and managing Life on Azeroth, Bronze having Sandy Breath Attacks and managing Time, Green Managing the Emerald Dream (Another tie to Druid here) and also being a different aspect of life with poison breath attacks, and Black having fire breath attacks and managing Azeroth/The Earth itself.

It would appear to me, as Dracthyr as I understand are hybrids built from all 5 dragonflights, that the “elements” pun intended are there to support a Shaman Class Fantasy and connection to the spirits through both breath weapon attacks and the aspect connection to the elements and to Azeroth on the whole. I feel as though they would make compelling Shamans with unique totems in combat, easily able to support Enhance (I mean, Augmentation Evoker is kind of enhancing with Dragon Elements), Elemental (Again fire and earth attacks, lightning isn’t too much of a stretch) especially with Devastation being similar, and of course Preservation being Life and nature we are easily seeing a correlation to Restoration Shaman.

Not to mention this would give Alliance another playable Shaman race option in addition to the pre-existing option for Horde players to pick from.

I think Shaman should be playable by Dracthyr.

Now as for Druids, again as explained above, which I will not rehash for the sake of brevity, we see a connection to the natural world, to nature, to preserving life and balance in many of the Aspects (Red, Green, Bronze for Time, Arcane for Blue, the Earth itself for Black) that Druid feels like a no brainer.

We could get special Dragon animal forms similar, but different, to the Zandalari Druid forms that are most similar to Dinosaurs. Flight Form may even simply be base dracthyr dragonflight mode. You simply become your own dragon self and dragonfly.

Guardian could be a tanky full dragon form, but of course smaller for visibility sake, something like a Drake form with wings and claw attacks and such.

Travel Form on the ground could be the 4 legged Drakonids or some other draconic form associated with speed.

Balance could be the Standard caster form, Moonkin, or a modified Dracthyr form similar to the Zandalari dinosuar caster form.

This would introduce the FULL playable Dragon aspect in some way to the game that players, I think, crave to some degree, and would offer both HORDE and ALLIANCE a new druid race that keeps Druid Parity (so one side isn’t getting while the other is).

I think playable Dracthyr Druids should be a player option.

Nice fanfic!

Love the creativity, rawr guardian dragon tank :dragon:.

There’s no good argument against them.

The reason we don’t have them is entirely development resource/time related.

Maybe in 10 years then.

There is no arguement for Shaman to not be a universal class

  1. If a race can become a Primalist, said race can become a Shaman.

  2. A Shaman needs only TWO components. A totem to house an elemental, and spirit energy to give it. Keep in mind Spirit energy exists in ALL things, hence MONKS!

I wonder if it would upset people MORE to have upright bulky Drakonids as Balance form. On the one hand, we finally get Playable Drakonids, sort of, but not completely. On the other hand it would be for a specific class of a specific spec meaning the ONLY way to play as one would be to be a druid (which not everyone enjoys.).

Never the less, I have seen caster form Drakonids in the game so there is precedent for this type of creature being a caster and could be a good basis for a spellcasting primary form for a Druid.

I think the biggest argument is that fundamentally these people are dragons. They may have a visage form, but they were only intended to be Evoker. It wasn’t until all of the whining and begging happened that they finally got more classes. Personally, I think much like the demon Hunter they should’ve been left in a very narrow zone for people who wanted to play dragons. I think they can have them once there’s a global race class faction unlock. Until then they can sit down and be quiet because dragon people have already been handed more in the last three years than most existing races have in the last 15.

I want to play as a bioluminescent troll shaman. Please Blizzard make it so.

Dracthyr Shamans make a lot of sense. Evidence: Black Dragonflight, leader the Earth-Warder.

Druids also make sense. Evidence: Green Dragonflight, guardians of the Dream, part of the life and death cycle of nature.

Dracthyr are infused with the powers of all flights. Druids and shaman would just rely more on aspects of specific Dragonflights.

Shaman totems could be little Oathstones.

I think the Druid forms should follow the theme of the Zandalari Druid forms. Let them be draconically themed versions of class’ forms. Like how there are draconian toads, wild beasts and vorquin.

As much sense drac druid makes I sure wouldn’t want to take the bullet for designing it. Just imagine the hate backlash if feral is too cat-like, or guardian to bear-like and not just a giant dragon. It’s a no win battle for blizz and smarter to not even try.
